Ford launches micro-site for 2011 US Fiesta

Posted Nov 21st 2008 at 2:54PM by Sam Abuelsamid

We're still a bit more than a year away from getting Ford's new Fiesta here in North America but the company has launched a micro-site for its new small car. There are downloadable images of the Fiesta and some details of the equipment that will be included on the American version. While Europeans have a variety of engine choices, it appears that we in the states will only get a 1.6L four cylinder with variable valve timing. The Fiesta will be the first US-market Ford with the PowerShift dual clutch transmission. Ford promises to keep the European-tuned suspension when the car arrives here. Production should start just over a year from now with an on-sale date early in 2010.

Attention Ford, I don't want a crappy 3-bar grill on it. Just bring it as-is.

If that site is any indication of what we will infact see, that is going to be a hell of a competitor to the Fit... too bad they are soooo damn slow to waking the hell up and getting this great car over here.

I am very happy to see that they had pics of the vastly superior looking hatch on that site.

Now they better not screw it up when they are done "translating" it for the US!!

I'd rock the Fiesta. If the fact that its a 'world car' is any indication of its price. It could be cheaper than the yaris. less than $12k.

Small cars ftmfw.

Default Jeremy Clarkson drives Ford Fiesta off of military landing craft

Quote:
Jeremy Clarkson is known for pulling the craziest stunts on the hit television series Top Gear. For his latest stunt, Clarkson drove off a brand new Ford Fiesta off a military landing craft and in to the sea. For what purpose - that is yet to be revealed.

The script for the stunt supposedly came from John Lugg, an Instow major, after marines from Poole came up with the idea and contacted the Top Gear team. The stunt had been in preparation for a couple of months and was completed with a crew of 12 and 30 Royal Marines that were going on about their day carrying guns and landing helicopters.

We’re guessing Clarkson doesn’t like the new Fiesta so much.

^^ What the hell?!?

OK, so unless that was a diesel Fiesta, it would have lasted all of 2 seconds before the engine drowned. Even if it was a diesel, that is beyond stupid. I rather have seen them drive it so hard that it's wheels fell off instead of something as pointless as drive it into the ocean. Geez.
