So the car i have is a swapped gc with the wrx brake conversion, lowered 1.5" F 1.6" back on prodrive springs with KYB AGX. Im looking for a wheel setup that would be good preferably without rolling, but i could if need be. One setup someone said that would be good is 17x8+48 245/40/17 rolled or 17x7.5+48 225/45/17 unrolled
help? i'd be using direzza Z1 star specs. This is mainly a tire thread, as ive pretty much decided to get the MB weapons or Drag Dr-21's.

The 245's will be faster, but you will have to roll the fenders. The Z1's are a street tire, and for SM you will be giving up a lot of ground on the R-compounds.
If I were in your shoes, I'd get the 17 x 8's and the 245's, as if you decide to get serious and go with R's, you will be able to fit a 275/40/17 on them and still be able to use most of the tire. ![]() |

what an underprepped car...how streetable do u want teh car to be? what do u want to spend money on first?
what wheels do u have now? if u still have the oem 16s, throw entry level Rcomps on that. skip Z1SS if u have not bought them yet. if u still want a new wheel set, make that for the Rcomps. then go to work on ur suspension. |

Completely depends on the size. 225/50R16 V710's were $210 each last set I bought. The 275/35R15 A6's I'm going to run next year are $244 each. Compare that to star specs at $127 each for the 225's and $235 each for comparably wide 275's. You are getting a cheaper tire that is not nearly as fast.
On a SM car the suspension is pretty free. You can setup the car to really take advantage of the higher grip of an R-comp. A well setup car will be around 3 seconds a lap faster on R-comps than street tires. It's definitely a trade off between $$$ and time. ![]() |

I kind of forgot about just sticking R comps on what i already have.
Here is my full suspension setup 24 FSB, 18mm RSB Spring/strut combo Front and rear strut towers Kartboy Endlinks wrx brake conversion Am i really just better off throwing r comps on the WRX stockers? |

like i said on pirates... learn on street tires, be even better on race tires... You'll likely save money on tires in the end...
