Default TPMS Issue

I recently purchased a set of 08 STi stock rims to use for my winter tires. I bought the tires, had them mounted and put them on the car about a month ago. The TPMS light is flashing 5 times and then staying on steady. This indicates a problem with the TPMS system and the owners manual says go to the dealer. Are there different frequencies used for TPMS and if so is there any way to find out what one the car came with.

Did you buy a new set of TPMS valve stems to go with the new wheels? Did the shop marry the to the car? The system only allows one set of TPMS sensors at a time. Yes, it's a PIA.

I have been wondering myself if there is any easy way to get that annoying warning light to go away if I don't have the sensors installed in my snow rims?

I didn't buy a new set of valve stems so I guess I will have to do so. Will have to find a shop that can do that or bring it to the dealer, although I am sure that won't be cheap.

forget it, don't even bother. i put an extra set of tpms sensors in my winter wheels, but every dealer i call is charging a lot of money just to get them programmed. just put black electrical tape over the warning light and call it a day.
