yep BUT the 05 wrx cabin harness should be plug and play with the 04 WRX. the ECU's have the same connectors and nothing much was changed under the hood. the STI's are very different from WRX though.

i believe the cabin harness sells for about $250 on subaru genuine parts. i could be wrong though but i remeber looking into it a while back.

as for doing this on an 02/03 youre stuck making your own harness, all other options are not practical and will be too costly or absurdly difficult.

I'm swapping a full fxt engine and bulkhead harness into my 02 wrx. I have the whole fxt so everything is plug and play so far. I was wondering if the auto climate heater box from an sti has the same plugs as the fxt? As the fxt boxes don't fit in the wrx. I'm still trying to find the auto climate wrx heater and blower box so I don't know if it will be plug and play. Anyone know what year auto climate boxes will fit in the wrx?

not sure about the heater boxes. id assume the plugs are the same to save costs while manufacturing. the blowers should be similar. what year forester? i think the parts might not fit because the forester has more similarities with GC's than GD's.

Also, dont worrt too much about the plugs on the blower motor. regular female spade connectors work well.

Default Steering wheel

Now all you need is the steering wheel and cruise from an 05 so you can get rid of the annoying button to the left.
I just got done researching the wiring and it doesnt seem too difficult

Is there a separate harness that can be purchased to update say an 02 WRX to an 05

or is it integrated into the main harness?

Nice write up. I'm kind of doing the exact opposite. It's a 97 OBS with 05 wrx engine and cabin harness but I'm putting in an 02 interior with manual HVAC controls.. All I'll have to do is splice the harness w/ the hvac harness? (anyone have an 02-03 hvac harness set they're willing to sell?)

there is no seperate HVAC harness, it's integrated into the bulkhead harness. you just need to change a few connectors and a little wiring if you already have the 05 bulkhead*cabin* harness in there. its pretty basic

yeah. why not just get the auto hvac stuff? since the hardest part(the wiring) is already done for you with the stock 05 wrx harness
