Holy craptastic those wires are going to be madness if something ever goes wrong in your car Once the masking tape falls off that is. I want to do something far simpler and am wondering how many colors of wire I need to differentiate it... I guess none But I will still definitely try to get 3, for hot ground and random other stuff.

not likely that anything will fail in regards to the wires themselves. the sheilding is very durable.

I'm curious what all it'd take for me to do the 05-07 auto controls in my 04 sti? From what I've read in this thread, it seems all I'd need would be the controls themselves, the trim that goes around them, the 05-07 center console and e-brake lever?

Can anyone confirm this for me?

Did anyone have problems with the cig lighter? Mine has power (but doesnt illuminate the "ring"). Once I turn the lights on then the socket looses pwr. I could of sworn I saw something about re-pining the connector... Anyone know what I need to change? My swap was '04 STi to 05 STi console/HVAC. I already had auto climate control so this was supposed to be plug and play. Everything else works 100%.

Figured it out using Ohm's law.

re-pin cig lighter harness side connector to:
Red to Yellow
Green to Blue
2 black wires go:
Black to Black
Black to White

So it is true, that since I have an 04 sti, the 05+ auto climate control swap is plug and play, with the exception of the cigarette lighter?

Well that and you have to move a few things around but other than that, it was very simple.

This thread is great glad to see all the awesome info here. Eventually I may do this, but for now I finally got everything ordered to finish my swap from 03-->05 door panels and center console with manual controls still. Hopefully wiring up the side mirrors will not be a big deal. The part number is 81820FE370 for the drivers door wiring harness btw if anyone cares. I could not find a junk yard anywhere with the harness, or if they had it would sell it... No one had a subaru harness, but the mirror plug was used in toyotas too so I thought I might have luck there. Nope they were afraid to sell a wiring harness for the wrong car. Thought you would burn yourself up or something crazy.

Just to help out I am cross posting what I did in the door swap thread to this, plus adding a bit of content.

So I swapped out the harness which was quite laborious to get the rubber boots in.

Anyway I have some photos

2003

and

2006

There is one additional pin in the dead center assignment 13 circled in red. This pin brings in power to the mirror switch it is wire YR going into the mirror switch on an 03. Exercise caution here as on the car side there is a ground connected to the spade connector. Hence you need to cut the ground and solder the extended YR to it, or bypass the connector entirely with YR. If you do not you will blow fuse 4 in the fuse panel.

Pins 20-22 have to do with the mirror for 2003-2005 swap with a new harness in the door (circled in yellow)
20: Light Green (Lg) Door side on new harness: LR car side This will need to be soldered to wire in center going to right mirror which is (Lg)
21: RL door side: RB car side solder in center to RL
22: Red Door side: Red car side and should be connected to Red in center

Solder them as shown, the crossed wires hook together and the YR wire in middle extend to the door connector shown above. You can either connect on the door side or cut the ground wire going to pin 13 and solder to the stub. Either way you must cut the wire on car side going to pin 13 or it will just short circuit and blow a fuse.

The mirrors work perfect now which is great after having them non-adjustable for so long. It is an easy job, but the swap of the center console is more laborious over all.

I noticed the alarm is going off when I use a key and not a clicker. http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=389623 Says that this is normal behavior, maybe mine was broken before.

If someone knows what the deal is with the cigarette lighter let me know as well. The ring doesn't light on mine, but there are only 2 pins a hot and ground so I am unsure how it was supposed to light up anyway.

Read the whole thread and seems very very possible for me. But noone did it on the 06 wrx tr's. How would this be done on the 06 wrx tr's with the 05+ Sti HVAC's? Where can i get the wire diagram for these two models?

so hey wheres this wire diagram? i have an 02 wrx and will be swapping the auto hvac in very soon. i was originally planning to swap the entire harness throughout the entire car to complete the sti swap and to gain avcs, but ive found that a jdm v7 sti ecu will plug into the usdm wrx harness, so all that will need to be done is run the wiring for the avcs to the ecu..... so ofcourse i find this out after ive bought everything for the swap, so idk atleast i have every little thing sitting in my garage to pull this off.

so yea please post up some info on your wiring information and some pics.... if thats not asking too much lol. i am a mobile electronics installer by trade and know my way around 12v electrical systems very well so i feel confident that i can pull this off alone, but if youve already done it, then a reference diagram wont hurt to same some time.

thanks

I had a 02 WRX in Germany before moving to the states and it had auto climate controls stock.

You can't see it above, but it also had the display for the ambient temp.

There were tons of little difference that I never new existed on USDM models. The EDM WRX had much nice seats also.

Am I missing something? The picture shows the standard manual hvac controls...

Auto hvac doesn't have a twist handle, its a rolling knob.

Yeah you did miss something. The temperature on the knob (its in Celsius) on the right side in picture 1. I can't make out what the middle knob is but the left knob directs where the air is to go.

Yup, you are missing something. Have a closer look and guess again. Those are Auto HVAC controls.

The center knob has the options: Off, Auto and 4 speed settings.

HEY GUYS!!!!! JUST SOME FYI - I AM DOING THIS SWAP TONIGHT AND I WILL BE PROVIDING A FULL WRITE UP ON HOW TO SWAP THE 05+ STI AUTO HVAC AND CENTER CONSOLE INTO A WRX WITHOUT ALL THE AUTO COOLNESSS SINCE THERE IS BASICALLY ZERO SUPPORT FOR THIS WITHIN THE NASIOC COMMUNITY.

SO ANYONE WHO IS INTERESTED IN THIS SWAP, STAY TUNED TO THIS THREAD AND I WILL PROVIDE A LINK TO A NEW THREAD WITH THE WRITE UP ONCE IM DONE.

I will say this, this swap is very electrical knowledge based and is not for most people. ALMOST NOTHING IS PLUG AND PLAY. The ENTIRE heater box from an auto hvac car must be installed being that its completly electronic with sensors and actuators and the fan control amp, you will need all the connectors which i will list, the two sensors (sunload and ext. temp) which also have two wires that run to the sti cluster to make the ext. temp display work, and the silver center pieces obviously lol, and bunch of wire and solder.

So now the fun begins! Stay tuned for the swap details

Yea, I wonder if it would be a bit easier since the years are closer. So far, one of the differences I have seen between the TR and STi for wiring is the leveler harness for the headlights. Everything else seems pretty much the same. I also think the Limited and WRX's came with auto-climate for 06-07 as well.
