Default Bugeye--12.600

Went to the track for the first time. I didnt exactly run the car to what I think its potential is, shifts could have been better, actually bounced off the limiter pretty bad from first tp second and my shift into 4th was pretty crappy because I missed forth on the run before and just wanted to complete a run, but this still ended up being the best. Think its got some more in it with a better run.

Any Ideas on how to improve? Where do you guys think I should be shifting at given the below graph?

60'--1.810
330--5.296
1/8--8.113
MPH--89.00
1000--10.545
1/4--12.600
MPH--110.34

Shift @ 6200 RPM. Thats a dyno dynamics, looks like a 1.2 cf. I made 1 hp less on pump gas on the same dyno and went 12.4 @ 109 at Lebanon Valley, a higher elevation track on a slight incline. Any other track in the northeast that run would have been a 12.2 @ 111, and thats right where you should be.

I had almost the identical curve. Redline first and second, shift @ 6200 after that.

You'll like the results.

Ps- Of course you gotta get down to a low 1.7 high 1.6 60' as well, watch that 5 speed man.

Have fun,

Mikey

Even if your driving is off, I think your car is not running right only going 110 mph with that parts list.

Just for reference, the last time I went to the track I ran 12.6@110 with my bugeye with a 16G on pump gas. And that was spinning the tires all through 1st gear to a 1.9 60'.

I think you should run at least 115 mph.

STI Mikey, you hit the nail on the head, dd and 1.2 cf, Track is closed so i'll have to wait until next year but thanks for the tip, I'll try 6200 next time. Even though it was a 1.8 60ft, I actually felt like it was decent, too much wheel spin because it was extremely cold out.

69--I actually thought I should be trapping higher also, with the 89.00 I was dissapointed to only finish with a 110.34, could my driving effect the trap that much? I didnt think it was THAT bad. I was shifting at 7k from 3rd to 4th, would that have made me lose mph?

Your driving will affect the ET, but you should have more MPH, I think. MPH is the indicator of horsepower. I don't put a lot of faith in dyno numbers, but your combination of parts has more potential than 110 mph. I would shift it at 6500.

Yea I hear ya, The only reason why I blame my driving is because I let me cousin give it a shot, hes driven my car before but it not as comfortable as me with it, and even though we expected his time to be worse, he also only trapped 107.XX, So I assumed that if I could personally achieve 3 mph, maybe my driving is making me lose another three,

I didnt think I would be at 115, but I was expecting 113ish.
But I could be wrong.......

Yes, power starts dropping after 6200, but no, he shouldn't shift then. This is a tall-ish ratio 5mt, when you change gears you divide your tq. I.E., better to be in 3rd at 7000rpm making xxx then it is to be in 4th at a lower RPM, making xxx+y.

If you really want to get serious you can get the gear ratios, final drive, and tire specs, and use that info in addition to the dyno sheet to find where your optimized shift points are. When in doubt though, redline

Do you have map switching capability? You could always keep the map you have now and have my tuner, Junior make you a track map with your current setup. I see your from the tri-state, he tunes in CT and Jersey. My car currently only has tbe and a boost controller and has gone a best of 12.0 in the 1/4. You have a slightly larger turbo and many mods. I could see 11.7-11.8s with ok driving and a Junior tune.

lol, i've never seen a 12.600, meaning never seen the .X00, it's always .X23 or whatever

random but..anyway

nice time, best way to test...not launch hard and go for the highest trap you can get...that will unequivocally show you what you CAN attain as far as ET

I have a similar setup except I have the APS FMIC, IWG, APS CAI, no meth, and headwork/cams. Similar enough OK, and you should be trapping higher than 110. I've been trapping 112 mph consistently on crappy 91 octane only. Like others have said, I've been pretty consistent with the trap speed but e.t. has gotten much better with practice. Best E.T. so far was 12.405 while hitting the rev limiter in 3rd. I shift at 7500 rpm BTW. I put down 335 whp/360ft-lbs on a land and sea dyno(300/330 on mustang)

Im actually pretty happy with my tune, MSPT did a great job on it.
I think its more my driving than anything, You have an sti right? even though I have an 18g, im still a stock usdm 2.0.

Ha same here, I couldnt believe it was 12.6 on the dot,

Yea i dont know I was def. hoping for a higher trap, Ive read rumors about STI trunk and wings making your car trap lower because of down force, is that any true or am I just looking for a long shot haha.
Especially since I trapped 89 up front, I thought I would trap higher,

Very Nice,...
Probably a bit more to squeeze out of it but overall right there. My mods are VERY similar to yours except I am on a 7cm 18G and PnP with no TGV's. Best run so far for me of
12.28 @113.4 . The 1st time I went to the track I ran consistant 111 traps and ran mid/high 12's.

You may be on to something,.. I only trapped 86.6 on the front half.

I agree about the junior tune also.

^^ Thats more where I thought my trap would be, well i think the wing is going this weekend for a cf trunk, I think some tracks are still open so I may shoot over to one and see if it makes a difference, I really dont think theres anything wrong at all with the car, I can only assume its my driving...Like I said my cousin drove a run or two at was trapping 107's......Or it could be the wing( I read somewhere that at 100 mph it creates xxx pounds of downforce, which actually makes sence because that would explain why my first half seemed stronger than the second half where I would be going faster, but thats just speculation i guess,

Good luck, I'm sure getting rid of the wing will help you on the big half... at least it can't hurt right? Just make sure you don't shift at 6200

That dyno must be in Dynapak mode.

I made 291WHP on a Dyno Dynamics and ran a 12.36@112.4MPH with a 1.85 60'; this is on an EJ205 bugeye w/VF22. When I made ~270WHP I trapped around 110MPH. Of course, all dynos are going to read differently but that's a huge effing difference.

You could probably get a good 12.5 with a 110MPH trap.

Nice numbers for the first time at the track man. Pretty brave with those stock gears still I see.

What tires and tire pressures where you running on the track? No wheelspin?

I too was expecting a higher trap speed.
