Default Help me identify my Legacy (1995)

Hey all.
I'm a newbit in these things yet, so excuse me if i misrepresented something...

I was looking for some specs for my new subaru i just bought recently. But I cant find anything lime mine here. It has 2L (1994cc) engine, 2-stage, twin turbo, intercooled (4 cylinder boxer). All tho by the registration slip, it was build in 1994, but it has 1995 shape, similar to one here http://www.motorcities.com/contents/00DR9024402416.html

excpet that I have a seadan (and it's not brighton), and it says RS on the back.

Mind it is a jap inport (I live in NZ), so I was just wondering that engine model number is that and what specs and stuff. Help is greatly appreciated.

Hey Mops, welcome to the board, nice to see new legacy members. From what you have described, it sounds to me as though you got a B4 RS, the body style designation for that year should be a BD/BG (sedan/wagon) and it would more then likely have the EJ20TT engine. That's about as much as I know, if that's anything.

Welcome to the board Mops.

Actually, if the car is a '95, then it technically won't be a B4. This was the title given to the 4th generation of Legacys, so MY '99+ in Japan. So your car is just what you say it is, a Legacy RS.

If you don't mind posting a partial vin number (Vehicle Idendification Number) then we can give you more specific information. From what you have described you have the 2nd generation Legacy. I am assuming the RS designation implies a higher trim level, sort of like the current (1997 on up) GT designation.

Oh an yes while this body stye was not sold in the US until 1995 I think that it was sold in Japan (and likely NZ & Australia) as a 1994 model.

Hmmm...very intersting, for some reason I always thought the B4 designation was from the BD ('95 style) Legacy and on. Shows how much I know, regardless, sounds like a very nice car you got. I wouldn't mind having a 95 twin turbo Legacy.

I'll try to get hold of digital camera and make some pics (including engine). I'm happy to give you all the numbers you need to idenyfy what exacly model number and stuff that is. You know I would really like to know the specs (like how much power and what kinda suspention... but i think it's modified as well, ahah). as well I think it has some heavy duty clutch, cos it is able to make all 4 wheels spin on dry tharmac while making a quick change from 1st to 2nd gear at high rpm's (its a little spin, but still make car slides about 0.5m off the road if i do it on a slight curve). Ah, one more thing would be very helpfull. Since car has 117'000 kilometers I'm just trying to establilish if/when the cambelt was changed.

Thanks for worm welcome guys. Help appreciated.

<continuation of previuos post>
So if anyone could please tell me how to check the state of cam belt (or should I got straight to a mechanic ?). P.S. I found a pic of an engine that looks very similary to mine.

Thanks again.

Welcome, Mops.
My advice: change the belt & the crank/ cam seals. It's cheap insurance.

BTW, is a "worm" welcome some kind of Kiwi tradition?
