With an SPT axleback, adding a midpipe will not really change your HP gains or sound. In the future if you add headers and a HFC, it might make a small difference. I would go for the borla replica headers right now considering they will make it sound a lot better. The HFC will most likely net you the most power out of all those options. Once you get them all working together, each will do more than if they were just installed by themselves.

Is the stock mid pipe for backpressure? Let's not get started on that debate Just keep around the 2.25 or 2.5 stock piping diameter and you'll be fine. The Stromung one on Boxer3Racing is meant for NA models, so you're good there. And it should bolt right up no problem.

I'm presuming you actually have that 07 your profile lists. If so, you need to make sure the midpipe is for an 06-07 RS as nothing else will work. B4R lists both the old style and the new, so make sure you click the right one. So long as you buy the right one, yes, it's a direct bolt up. However, your new headers and new HFC won't be. AFAIK, no one makes 06-07 headers or HFC. You'll have to go either custom or convert to an older-style setup.

It's not because NA ENGINES DO NOT NEED BACKPRESSURE.

Just sayin.

Due to rust, I ended up replacing my stock midpipe with a Stromung with the entire rest of the exhaust being stock. Absolutely no change in sound.

Just want to add that when I added a stromung centerpipe to my stromung axleback, it made a huge difference in sound.

If really depends on the axleback portion.

If the muffler itself is of a quiet nature, the stromung centerpipe won't make a big difference, if the muffler is of a loud nature, a non resonated center will make it even louder.

Exactly. Even more, if the muffler is a really quiet one, like the stocker, nothing upstream of it makes a difference.

b4r has a header and hfc listed for the 06-07 2.5I

I thought maybe I missed it, so I checked again. No, they don't have a header for HFC to fit the 06-07s without converting entirely to a 05- exhaust or custom work.

Question is what spt axleback do you have on there, the one from the older rs or the one from the wrx

that will determin the midpipe you would want. Also it is not real loud because its designed that way, change it out for a stromung axleback and it will be prob more to your wishes

Haha, most definitely. I don't know why Subaru gave the 2.5i's pea shooter exhausts.

Then it sounds like it was not made for the 06 but instead for the older rs

Important thing to find out is if they modified the axleback or your midpipe to make the spt fit because that will determine what you will need to buy
