Default need Heat

I have a 04 STi and at the end of summer my A\C stopped blowing the cold air. I can live with out the A\C but no defroster or heat will be getting a little harder to deal with. It just stopped working randomly and every now and then it would start working until I shut the car off. I am guessing it was a fuse but I looked at it and it seemed to be fine, so my next thought was the blower motor. I have no idea where it would be located or if that is the next thing I should look into. If anyone has expierenced a simalar problem or has any ideas I'd love to hear them. Thanks a lot!!!

CAn you be a little bit more specific?

at first it seems like your issue was your AC not working, but as you continued, you seem to say your blower motor is not working.

Does the fan work at all? Does it work in any position? (heat, ac, fan defrost, try them all)

You have to do a little testing. Been a while, but i think you need to take the glove box out to gain full acess to the blower motor. You'll need at least a test light- Turn on the fan, and you'll need to probe the leads to see if there is power to it. If there is no power, I dont recall if subaru's use a relay, but I dont think so. It could be your HVAC control unit as well.

Sorry, it doesn't work in any position. I just found it random that it would go on and off every now and then.

I'd check the blower motor first. Check the connection there. If not there, then I'd check the power to the HVAC control unit. You will have to pop it out of your dashboard. Get the wiring diagram and check that for power. I'd also try just manually jumping from one power pin to the fan circuit , to eliminate the fan being the issue.
