With the JDM bezel, the stereo opening is actually Double DIN size and not extra wide.

Though that one appears to be flat grey through most of the middle, instead of the full semi-gloss silver of the USDM one...

Is that normal for the JDM one? For some reason I thought it was all silver like the USDM one.

I posted this in the unique mods thread, but also appropriate here. I added some subtle ambient lighting, it adds a dull red glow to the shifter and console at night. I think the Foresters and Legacies have this now, but it is blue. I like to preserve my night vision.

Where did you get the lights? My wife has an 09 Forester and I like how it looks, so I've been wanting to do this to my 08 wrx for a while now but haven't found the right stuff.

I bought the module, in the first pic, from VW/Audi. It is just a plastic housing with 2 LEDS and capacitors. I liked it because it aims them, one forwards and the other rearwards. I can dig out the part number, I just haven't bothered because they were cheap when I bought a couple last year, but now they are some ridiculous price like $45/ea, for $2 worth of LEDs if that.

I'd recommend just some pre-wired LEDs from oznium.com or something like that. I have a few of those for some future project where I put ambient lighting behind the door handles.

Power is tapped off the sunroof circuit, they are on all the time but you cannot see them in daylight.

That's the Innovate Wideband calibration switch. I see most people hiding it, but I thought it was best to have easy access to it.

There's a thread here for the diy, so I did all the work myself, but finding everything was the hard part. Here's a summary of what I spent:

First projector was found alone and already removed from the headlight at ebay for $76
Second projector was taken from a 2007 sti headlight, but I bought the whole headlight for $225 from another member
Ballasts and igniters came together and got them from theretrofitsource.com. They were moving their business to another state, so there was a sale. I bought ballasts, igniters and TSX lenses altogether for $210
D2S bulbs came with the projectors I had found, but I decided to go with everything new, so I bought a new set of Phillips 4300K D2S for $54 at ebay.

Basically around $600, give or take. I was also looking for complete factory STi HID headlights, but the lowest price I could find was around $750, not including shipping. I'm from Puerto Rico, and since some ebay sellers think this is an overseas third world country, they always go very high in costs.

Are those "oreo" rims 16 inch? I've been wondering if I could fit some like those on my car in 16 inch.

I dont have specs, wheni bought the car the other owner gave me the steelies and snow tires with the car... sorry!

I bought my steelies mounted and balanced with some General Tire Altimax Arctic 205/55/16 mounted from tirerack as recommended by Luke. Came out to around $600 shipped. Definitely a good winter setup.

You can find the steelie info on tirerack by searching for steel wheels or by going to products -> winter -> Winter / Snow Tire & Wheel Packages -> select the 16" wheel package and you should see them popup there.
