insurance from the wrx to the sti for me was going to be a 2600 a year increase not to mention the increase in payment. im 21 i got a dent job. i go to school full time and have a 240sx a f150 vw jetta and a r6 i pay insurance on too ( thank god their all bought an paid for) wrx made more sense.

Nothing IMO justifies the $10,000 price difference. It all depends on your tie to the name. A lot of people love the STi for the meaning behind the name. Really, only true enthusiasts appreciate the STi for what it is and that includes the premium for it. As for me, I want the best bang for my buck and the WRX was the better $/HP vehicle out there.

I would love an STI, the price difference isn't what kills it for me though. It takes the same gas, has the same turbo (more or less), has better suspension, DCCD, etc..

It's the insurance. The WRX is expensive enough to insure for younger folks, the STI is even worse. I can't justify the $10,000 mark up and insurance costs. When I'm out of college and have a stable job, I'll look into buying one. It's not like I'd need the DCCD or suspension right now. Between studying and failing, I have no time to get to the track.

The insurance of an STi is not much more than the WRX. They are very close, but completely far away from a 2.5i.

Sick ride, man. Ultra clean. How did you tackle the painting of the chrome trim on the doors?

The trim pieces on the doors are actually removable (a couple screws and a funky tab), so I took them off, sanded them, masked them, primed and painted. 6 months now and no chips or peeling, even with this harsh winter....

They're not hard to get off once you figure out how to pop the tab at the end of each piece. There is a screw at the other end hidden behind the door trim/front door tweeter that you have to take out too.

The little piece on the rear quarter window I just masked off and sanded/painted while still on the car.

yep.....I've sold racks at the ski shop for years. I actually may have one bike rail I could sell you cheap if you get crossbars. Ask me in the spring, I'll look around for it.

boost gauge was easy except feeding it through the firewall, which was a major pain in the arse...otherwise install was pretty straightforward. HOnestly though...after the first week or two of constantly watching it, I pretty much never even look at it any more. It's there mostly now just to block view of the TPMS light when I have my summer wheels on

as to the heaters....well, I couldn't very well have wiper and mirror de-icers without seat heaters, could I? BTW, the seat heaters are hot as hell..I can't keep them on for more than about 5 minutes.....the ones in my old maxima (w/leather seats) got to a comfy warmness, these get blazing hot!

Willkommen!

Car looks very nice!

Funny that you removed that "finisher lamp" -- there are people here in the US that actually want that European look!

Quick question: There are zero body kits for the 08 wrx but a few for the sti. As far as I can see, the two are the same if you swap for the STI fenders. Is that the case? I want to get the sti style fenders (wide body look) and front bumper.

I've seen spray, and film, and yellow bulbs, and the best (and cleanest) look is the yellow bulbs. I am using "Nokya" brand yellow bulbs.

09WRXME,

Can you PM me some more pics of your JNA lip? I'm very close to buying one, but none of the pictures are good enough quality

Just some close pics and whatnot. Also, how flexible is it?
