Default 2.0 NA motors?

My dad called me earlier because he came across a 2.0l motor at the swap meet for $350. He called me beause I was the only one he knew that knew anything about subaru's. He said there was no turbo or exhaust on it and it had coil packs on it, have there been any vehicles that came with a 2.0l NA motor? I couldn't give him much of an answer because I wasnt sure if they were out there. If so what would it have come out of?

We'd need to see pictures to be sure which one it is. There's a number of them, though the price and coil packs suggest it's probably something early like an Ej20D. That was an NA engine found in first gen Legacies that makes 150chp at 6800 rpm. I've got one in my garage that I've been trying to find a good project to do with it. It would be a fun engine in a sandrail, Vanagon or a 914 swap. Something like that. You could even put it in a an old Legacy or Impreza for a little fun

My Impreza has a 2.0L SOHC engine (shoosh, it's from Japan).

Does it have heads? Or is it just a shortblock? The 2.0L N/A came as both SOHC and DOHC - if you are extremely lucky (and I mean EXTREMELY in the strongest sense) it might be an SRX engine - quad cam, first engine to ever get AVCS

Almost guarantee it'll be a 20D.

my guess is on EJ20D as well. the likelihood of finding a JDM motor at a swap meet is kinda low i would think.

I don't see why people always say that about JDM stuff like it's rare and unobtanium. There are literally hundreds of importers bringing in those engines.

$450 for an Ej20D.
