OK I have a 94 Legacy RS turbo. Fresh built EJ22T with 2.5 DOHC heads, intake, TD04, and yellow top STi injectors. The engine will crank, and fire, but will not start.
Checked all wiring connectors plug wires are good, and have spark through plug The timing belt is on correctly after a check. has 1/4 tank of fresh gas. All the injectors are wired up correctly according to the wiring schematic, and sound like they are clicking. fuel pressure is 38lbs cranking. Maf is hooked up but the turbo inlet has a small kink. Air can be felt going into the engine while cranking though. The IAC is hooked up to the intake past the MAF, but with a pretty long temporary hose (about 3') The only things not hooked up are the PCV valve system, and the valve cover breathers. The top mount is temp in place (waiting on better y pipe), but is secured. No CEL codes earlier, Ill look again. Still wont start, but it does fire intermittantly. Any thoughts? Please help, I have been at this thing for a while and would love to have start up. Thanks. Ill do a compression tommorow.

OK after rechecking the cels, I do have code 45 pressure sensor. Would this keep the car from starting though? I dont think it has much to do with starting and more to do with boost. That is the only cel.
The car stumbles a lot like it trying to start, it just wont. Any help is greatly appreciated. |

thats a pretty cool build tell me how it works out ??? I put a 20G into my 22T legacy it runs off my 22's comp! it still runs evin though the turbo is blowing off to air and the throttle body just off a pipe to air runs increadibly rich though!!!! also I can't get the cam timing right!! maybe the STI injectors are flood ing the engine?? so check that out! maybe it's somthing that simple!?!?!?!?!?!

Cam timing is right. They were 100% lined up. No codes for timing issues, just the Pressure sensor.
Engine Mgnt is stock ecu which will work with this build. Injectors shouldnt be flooding, they are only like 80cc more than the stock pinks. Today I am going to do a comp test, and secure the maf and IC better as well as check all the vac lines and such. If it isnt that I really dont have a clue |

Thanks, but I dont think that is the problem. These injectors have been used many times by a lot of other members with good results. Regardless of the flow rates the ECU is only allow them to flow as much as it needs.

I dont know cause my ej20g runs off the stock ej22t's comp my cam timing was a little out ,turbo not conected to the intake at all!! just blowin off. And some vaccum lines might be right!! Mind you this thing is runnin so rich that I thought it had no rings left but theres lots of explanations for that though! hope you figure it out soon!! Jesse

also the comp in any OBD 1 cars can't tell what injectors are in there there on a timed pulse rate so however many milliseconds they fire they will fire the higher flowing injectors the same amount of time resulting in more fuel?!?!? I coud be wrong but in other OBD1 cars thats what I found the O2 sensor doe'sent even detect until it is running for a second or 2!?! but if its OBD2 I don't really even know cause I have never had a car with it if I am wrong I'm sorry but that is what I have experienced with my corolla and stuff of my freinds!!

Did you ever figure this out? I'm having a similar issue. Happened right after I took off the intake/intercooler. Fixed all the leaks and put it back together.

Yes, I didnt have a good seal for the MAF sensor. As soon as I redid the plumbing and squared away the hoses on the turbo/intercooler, and MAF she fired right up. It is about to get a PP6 EM as the STi injectors proved to be a little to much for the stock ECU and it would cut out when boost started to build.

sounds dumb but make sure your intercooler is fastened correctly. Mine wouldnt run with a cracked turbo outlet. Also check your air intake is connected. My car wouldnt fire for the longest time because my stupid ignitor failed.
