Driver, 24, Charged in Crash That Killed Pedestrian

A 44-year-old pedestrian was struck by a car and killed Saturday night, and a Woodbridge man has been charged in the crash, Prince William County police said yesterday.

Jeffery Scott St. Germain of no fixed address was attempting to cross the street when he was hit by a 2005 Subaru WRX in the 2700 block of Caton Hill Road in Woodbridge, police said. He died at the scene.

The driver, Tamarr Deshawn Williams, 24, was speeding at the time of the crash and initially fled but returned to the scene hours later, police said. He is charged with involuntary manslaughter and is being held on $50,000 bond. Williams is due in court Jan. 7. The investigation is ongoing, police said.

wow.. that sucks.

If he wasn't speeding and didn't leave the scene would he still be charged with involuntary manslaughter?

If he was not speeding he could have stopped and not hit the guy.

not necessarily true! you can still be going 35mph in a 35mph zone you still can hit/kill someone!

he would've still been booked on the charges of invol. man slaughter but they would probably put more effort into investigating if the victim was improperly crossing the street.

also, had he been obeying the laws, the judge/jury would probably work harder to cut him a break

Holy **** I drove by the Wawa and they had the road closed off, I was wondering what was going on and thought there was a police chace/standoff as a BUNCH of police were patrolling the area looking everywhere (for somebody it seemed).

Wow. That sucks....

Let's be carefull to not jump to conclusions.
We'll all agree that leaving the scene was not the right thing to do but returning was the first step in an effort to make things right.
Mr. Williams could be a member here and right now, based on the information available, could easily be found innocent of the charges against him. What an insult that would be to him to have his name vindicated in court but draged thru the mud here.
I know first hand how easily media reports can distort the facts. Public opinion is a much tougher battle than any court of law.

How do they know he was speeding?

and what is their definition, 36-40 in 35

I think we'd all be guilty there

it doesn't even say he was speeding in the article,i for one have had a number of people run across the street when they see me coming and not at a cross walk, and if you have been listening to those radio commercials about hitting pedestrians in the DC area 25 and up the person has a very slim chance of living

^^ 25 slim chance, 40 practically no chance

Sounds to me like a homeless guy jumped in front of the car... I agree that we shouldn't just drag this guy's name through the mud until we know what really happened.

Ya PSM, thats what i was thinking, but really let the guy alone. as i said before my judgment is that he panicked,he made amends by comeing back, he could just left and no one would have been the wiser but he did come back.

Was the guy crossing in a cross walk? If someone steps out between two cars and gets clipped...might not be the driver's fault.

one of my good friends has actually hit and killed someone in his car a few years back. the car was not totaled but he got rid of it because of the memory. the lady was crossing the street not in a cross walk or anything (jaywalking). it was at night and i dont know all the circumstances.

he was charged with nothing. she was jaywalking

My friend said he wooped the guys ass who is being charger a couple years ago. They use to roll together to MD to race and what not and got into a scuffle and got wooped I suppose.

Can't put the blame on anyone yet, homeless guy may have been ****ed up and just walked into the street.

Great Point Mat...the media sometimes jump to conclusions....I still think it was horrible what he did, and he was probably just scared...but he shouldn't have fled the scene....at least he returned...
