Default JDM avcs cams vs. USDM avcs cams are they interchangable?

I am trying to find out if the USDM sti avcs cams from any of the current aftermarket cam makers will fit in ver8 big port heads. I cannot find any answers to this.

Then the ultimate question is... will Brian Crower 280's with avcs fit in the version 8 heads?

Thanks.

Cams fit fine but the signal for AVCS is different on JDM cams. The US cams have slots in the cams for the sensor signal, the JDM ones have ribs. This would probably give an inverted signal, I doubt this will make the engine management system happy.

I know for a fact that the Tomei cams (same USDM as JDM as far as I know), will fit in the Version 8 heads with fully functional AVCS without issue.

No ECU problems either.

Really? I thought it was a 3 part pickup v. 4 part pickup. But if it works, thats fricken awesome (maybe I should keep my JDM spec C heads!)

Soooo... Any sound 100% proof of USDM sti spec AVCS cams being interchangeable between US heads and JDM heads and still being fully functional?

There seems to be that discrepancy that I am unwilling to take a chance on.

Anyone in the future wanting to know the answer to this read the post quoted above. This is correct different avcs cams for usdm and jdm. Confirmed from Cosworth and Kelford.

From what I understand this isnt what makes the AVCS not work in either casing. The cams themselves can work in different heads. Its the actual avcs signals as descibed above that is non-compatable.

usdm cam sensors for the avcs are located at the rear of the heads, whereas the wrx single cam sensor is located on the drivers side front of the head behind the intake cam sprocket.

true that!!

back on topic....
If you run your USDM stuff on the JDM heads, you shouldn't have a problem.
Big Ports heads, on USDM ECU/harness. Only thing different are the combustion chambers, intake ports, valve springs, etc.

Run the USDM AVCS cam cap assembly, put USDM AVCS cam sensor on and voila?

If you use US cams with US sensors and a US ECU, the signal doesn't need to be inverted, correct?
