Default Recommend me a Sparco steering wheel.

So the car's going in for the full cage/race car treatment so I'm in the market for some "race" parts in the interior. Let's start with the steering wheel. I've already picked up a Sparco adapter, so now I'm in the market for a Sparco wheel. A few things I'm looking for:

1.) Suede
2.) Prefer the "bumps" at 10 & 2. Like the stock STI wheel.
3.) Not too small, not too big. I suppose I should measure the stock STI wheel as a baseline.

Thanks for any input.

If you go over to OG racing they have pretty much every Sparco wheel in their showroom so you can feel them and see which one you like best. Also consider how close you want the wheel to be to you, then measure the depth of the hub + quick release if you're using one and see if you want a flat wheel or one with a little dish to bring it closer to you.

Yeah. I've looked at the Sparco wheels at OG. Just trying to decide which one by getting an idea what other people are using. I'll probably have to wait until I get the cage done and figure out where the seat will end up being mounted.

the other thing you need to be mindful about is how far your hands will be from ancillary stalks like turn sigs/wipers/lite switches. you want plenty of room to twiddle the wheel without turning yer wipers on or signaling somebody you're 'turning left."

sparco makes a spacer that can help, i ended up with a flat wheel (Momo Jackie Stewart from early 70s) and the 1.5" spacer, which was just right.

also think how much a smaller diameter wheel may obscure the tach or speedo. if those get blocked, maybe just bolt on big honkin oil press warning and shift lights and forget that other stuff.

In that case, I like the 383 but I wish it had a yellow indicator stripe on top, and it was a little thicker. Look into the OMP Targa, that's what I'm planning on getting. Just trying to figure out if it's available in the US. It's the same bolt pattern as Sparco.

I have a 330mm "RING" in leather and love it

Id stay away from suede unless you plan on driving with gloves. I know a number of guys who's wheels are gunked up from hand sweat and oils. They get dry cracky and skanked-up

I've got a ring in my miata, and it's great there. But I can't help feeling it might be a bit small in the STI. I'm not sure why I think that, though. Probably because the STI has heavier steering, and can get some nasty torque steer sometimes.

Just remember to brand match the seats and the steering wheel with the harnesses.
