Default Mitsubishi Lancer Ralliart Release Date?

Any updates as to when the new Lancer Ralliart is scheduled to be released? The last I heard the new Lancer Ralliart was scheduled to be released in August/September/October, which obviously did not happen. Kinda makes you wonder if Mitsubishi sent the Ralliart back to the drawing board for power and suspension upgrades since Subaru substantially beefed up the WRX for '09. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Um....they are out and have been since around October. I'm actually thinking about buying one.

Wow, you are right! I stand corrected. This is the first time I've actually seen one listed under the Lancer line in Mitsubishi's website. However, I have yet to see any on the lot at local Mitsubishi dealerships.

The Ralliart is a fine vehicle but Subaru has already bested it with the updated WRX. Hopefully Mitsubishi will update the Ralliart accordingly. It has potential to be a good car. A little more power, better brakes, and better tires would help to make it a very competitive car. It's a shame that the car has only been out just short while and it's already falling behind the competition.

It didn't get the best review in the Jan 09 C&D. However, I am keeping my eye on the wagon version....hopefully they will make some improvements.

Well sort of. I own an automatic WRX and was going to get a 2009 WRX automatic but they don't make them. Now Subaru makes the GT with less HP then the WRX. All of the Ralliarts have the same TC SST transmission from the Evolution X MR and from what I have read and heard it is amazing! Currently there is no manual version of a Ralliart.

Why someone would want to completely neuter a car like a WRX with an AT is beyond me, especially considering that the AT's in the impreza line are total garbage.

Automatic... WRX... Why?

I mean I guess if you lost your left leg wrestling and alligator or something... but still... an automatic?

Yeah I don't get wanting an A/T either. Guys at work ask why I didn't an evo with the TC SST because it will shift faster than I ever could with my 6spd.

I told them because of the fun factor of shifting...pulling through gears is awesome! A fews days later a guy that traded in his 05 sti for an Evo X MR said he really missed the 6spd manual of his old sti

Yeah all EVO GSR's have the 5 speed manual.

And I am lazy that is why I have an auto WRX which I am perfectly happy with as are all the others on here who have auto WRX's. I am pretty sure this thread is about the Ralliart anyway and the auto vs. manual thing has been beaten to death in other threads.

Everybody bitches their heads off when the WRX doesn't get the STI's fender flares.. but when the Ralliart doesn't get the EVO's flares, nobody even notices.

I think there is two major factors why the ralliart will not do well: the first is price and the second is the lack of a manual. Buyers who are interested in these types of vehicles are mostly interested in having a traditional manual. In addition, it also adds a few k to the price, which in the performance bargain segment is not a good. They can offer the current tranny but only as an option. I actually consider them offering the dsg tranny only to be a terrible decision and actually mind boggling. I see no reason to even consider a ralliart until they offer a traditional manual and a power increase.

Even if they made changes, I still would buy a wrx.

Overall the Ralliart is much more aggressive looking than the 08-09 WRX already. The new WRX is somewhat plain, wouldn't you say. The RA comes with the EVO aluminum hood and a slightly different front end. Overall the X track is only .5 inches wider even with the flares.

No manual hurts especially if you want to mod. The SST has torque protection and at this time is the limiting factor for more power. The cost is right in line with the WRX. Many are getting them for 25XXX OTD. My quote for a base WRX was 25k plus taxes etc.
