Well since a certain douche bag (slow04sti) sold me a blown gt12 and wont return my pms like a little girl.....i was forced to buy an HTA Green. The bearings were completely gone on the gt12 and sounded like fingernails on a chalkboard when the wheel was spinning....so oh well i had to buy the HTA.
Big thanks to tux121 for hooking me up with a NIB HTA Green for $1100. ![]() Mod List: 2002 WRX 95 octane + meth 2.2L ESX/TRP shortblock 2.4" Int Gate HTA Green Perrin EBCS EBAY TBE EBAY TMIC EBAY HEADERS Coolingmist Meth kit DW 750's APS 65mm CAI APS Turbo Inlet STi 6 speed Grimmspeed Intake Mani w/ TGV Deletes Romraider Tuned by me Big thanks to my neighbor jake who got the damn turbo squeezed in there. Finally got it in and got 2 pulls in last night.....and the boost was falling off bad and wouldnt hold above 21psi at redline. Said screw and went to bed. Went at it again after work today.....we had to down a bunch of BL and stand around and contemplate where the leak would be or if it was the Perrin EBCS. We turned off the WGDC in the ecu and did some pulls, boost held steady at 14....so we knew the EBCS was good. next culprits in line were the silicone hoses from turbo to throttle body, all good. Next culprit, BOV. So i took off the two bolts and the BOV just fell off.....no rtv or gasket.....remind me to kick you in the nutz next time i see you jon. RTV'd her up.....drank more BL waiting for it to dry.....did a couple pulls. Boost was very erratic. This is because of the 24.75 psi Target Boost limit in the 16 bit ECU. Everytime i would go over 24.75 the turbo dynamics would just start eating away the WGDC. Boost was barely creeping over 24......so big Al's 30whp from a crushed BOV popped into our heads and out came the hammer. Boost then spiked to 28psi After that i said screw it and turned off the TD's, set the boost cut to 30psi and here are the results. Still seems the BOV is causing the boost to fluctuate and not hold very well.....notice the WGDC is pegged at 95% the whole run. Boost is actually pretty solid for no negative turbo dynamics, but really who wants to decrease boost anyway. I was still hoping to be able to hold more boost at redline. I think a FMIC and new BOV are in my future. At first the dyno numbers were low to me. I was expecting to get up around 375whp which my STI with OG green does in airboys spreadsheet. But after some thought I am attributing the 35whp difference to my ebay tmic vs Spearco on the sti, the ebay headers vs the perrin EL's on my STi, the AVCS on the sti and my single meth nozzle vs dual meth nozzles on the sti. The HTA completely destroyed the 16g and gt12. Lost a little low end to the 16g....but it destroys it there on out. PS: I am very pleased with my ESX/TRP 2.2L shortblock....its been in my car since 2003... 6 years....how many subies you know that have had a built motor running that long? Not to mention this car has seen a 60 lb/min turbo + nos, a tdo4, a 16g, a gt12, now the HTA. Motor is pretty damn solid. I may be getting a good deal on a CSS FMIC.....so stay tuned for some Ebay TMIC vs CSS FMIC log comparos. Also, Im looking for some Perrin EL's so if anyone wants to help me get to the Ebay headers vs Perrins....hit me up. ![]() ![]() just a not for those of you not familiar with airboys spreadsheet.....it pretty much reads like a Dyno Dynamics or a Mustang. And if you're used to looking at dynojets, the 340whp below would be around 400whp on a DJ. ![]() Code:

thanks....i was just looking at my mod list and laughing...my 4 feet of APS piping cost more than the tbe, headers and tmic combined
![]() im almost pulling the trigger on a CSS FMIC kit....should i do it? $550 shipped nib.... my neighbor and i were also contemplating running without an intercooler....and just spraying the meth. i think we may do that this weekend just to see what happens. |

LOL @ the APS comment though. That's definitely not an area to skip though. So you're supposed header leak wasn't a header leak at all then huh? Hows about a hooray for the ebay header team!!!! BTW, which ebay header did you get? The megan 4-1 one piece with UP? |

Nice numbers Ron
. I think you should have your neighbor drive one of your cars to see if the sti is that much faster. I want to thank you for helping out once again. I haven't tried the new rom but i will later today and will let you know if things improved or not. Bump for one of the best NASIOC supporters. |

Looks like a nice combo....not too common.
Seems to spool really well for a 2.2 with that big of a turbo. I'm strongly considering picking up an HTA Green for a future project. Always good to see your posts! |

Yeah.....i kinda wish i had put it on my sti to see if it would spool faster than the og green. i wonder how much the 3" inlet would improve the spool..
right...no header leak. one of the main reasons we were sure it was a header leak is that the AFR's were consistent. but apparently i had just tuned around the leak and it was a consistent enough not to throw of the afrs. i dont know which brand i got but it is a 4-1 one piece. |

HTA FTW, good stuff Ron.
yep Ron is one of the best guys on NASIOC, some don't like him cause he might ask the "tough" questions sometimes thanks for showing your logs. what exact MRP category are you logging to show real boost? Matt |

Nice setup, but question: Why do you pull less load through your power band than I do with my VF39? I hit 3.7g/rev at ~3400rpm tapering to about 2.6g/rev at redline.
With more g/s from the green over a VF39, I would have expected much higher sustained load. Maybe I read your graph wrong. |

because my MAF is tweaked to try and stay under the 300 g/s limit in the 16 bit ecu. you simply cant enter anything over 300 g/s in the 16 bit ecu.
also, once one or both parties have an aftermarket intake and a rescaled MAF the loads are no longer comparable, unless the MAFs are scaled exactly the same....and just because 2 people have 70mm intakes DOES NOT mean that they (or their tuner) have the same MAF scale. And actually i am sustaining load better....you are dropping off by 1.1 g/rev (3.7-2.6) and im only dropping of 0.7 g/rev (3.3-2.6). MRP Relative Direct.....i have the AEM 3.5 Bar MAP sensor, thats why i can read the boost that high. |

Yeah, I am trying to fight the temptation to see how it would do in my car. Between the EL header and the cams, my current setup seems to spool really, really well, so I can't help but wonder what a 3" HTA Green would be.

Shouldn't you be working?!?!?!?! LOL I am glad you got it running and figured out your leak. Thanks for the help this weekend. The boost definitley comes on more aggressively and a couple people that haven't rode in the car in a while are like "Did you get tuned or something?" Now you have me looking up meth kits, turbos and all sorts of stuff I should be staying away from! THANKS!!!!

meth is probably the cheapest...you can get an AEM or Coolingmist kit for ~$400.
you can find used Perrin Equal Length headers for ~$500 if you do a turbo....i'd say 20g or a Green. the thing with doing bigger turbos here with the 91 octane is that your pump gas results arent gonna be real impressive compared to the stock turbo on 91 octane. If you do a bigger turbo a meth kit or a race gas tune is a necessity to maximize the gains. it starts getting expensive...turbo, injectors and meth you're gonna be in at least $2000. remember my old rotated 60 lb/min + 30 shot of nos only put down 350whp on 91 octane. |

i forgot to mention that i filled up my tank and went to the dump to weigh my car....it was 3280 with me in it and im 180-190. i was very surprised...that puts my car at 3100. Its really gutted too. only thing in the car is the 2 front seats and the spare....carpet, headliner, backseat and all the supports and plastic bits are out. guess i would be at 2900 without the 6 speed and less gas. i was hoping to be 3000 lbs with me in it.....sawzaw time.
