Default Built heads - cam question

First, please excuse my ignorance as I'm not too "built motor" smart

I recently bought a pair of supposedly built heads off of a fellow nasioc member who had a good seller rating. They are obviously ported and polished, but the memeber said they were built by raw1. From what I am told, when heads are built by them, they stamp, or put their signature somewhere on the heads. I don't see any markings. My builder actually ended up calling Ron because they are good friends, and Ron actually turned around and said they aren't his.

Secondly, the heads were suppose to come with Kelford cams, 264 / 272. From what my motor builder (Dave Brown) says, Kelford stamps their logo and the timing number on the cam itself, which on the ones that are inside the heads....we don't see any. Does anyone know if this is true?

I can have pictures up later tonight of the cams and the heads.

I know this is all vague, but any help would be appreciated. I'm just hoping I wasn't bent over a table and ass raped. The heads cost me a pretty penny, so I'm trying my best to keep positive.

Thank you for your help.
Brandon

Ron usually stamps the customers name onto the intake port of the heads. kelford cams usually have the size marked on the actual cams themselves either in the middle or at the end "etched" in.

I have heads done by Ron, that's what he did to mine. I have only seen 2 sets of kelford cams, mine are etched in the middle and the other set was etched at the end. I do not know if Ron etched the cams as well.

Yeah my heads say JAY all over them. You can actually see it with the motor installed in the car.

Chimera and about every other CNC head company does that too...does add a nice touch.

My custom kelfords have the specs on the end of the shaft.

282, 282! lol

Shimless buckets? Shim over buckets? I want to guess! lol

Kelford doesn't make a 280 intake cam right? I wanted two 280's, but that wasn't an option.

It's so that you'll feel special... just like everyone else!

Actually, I bet they do it to make it easier to keep track of all the different customer parts that look exactly the same. Tags have a tendancy to tear off and markers wash off. They could stamp a number in, but then they'd have to look up the number every time.

I actually lost a block once when a machine shop gave it to another customer because the tag fell off and they thought it was a spare. They found me another block and rods, and it turned out that one of the rods had a stretched bolt. When it failed, it trashed the motor. If I had gotten my parts back, it would have held together.

not yet, i just got his phone #

i feel shady, honestly. I know i shouldn't but the guy has a good seller rating on here, and oddly enough...some people that have replied here have bought from this guy, too.

I feel is i got ripped off here, the guy got his money and i wouldn't hear from him again. This hasn't been the case. The guys been more than prompt and helpful so far, minus knowing this problem.
