Default 08 Mustang GT for 19K !!

I just heard on local radio here in LA. Galpin Ford is advertising 08 Mustang GT with sticker of 28K for $18900 for any one of the 40 Mustang in stock.

There's no cheaper way to get 300 hp new, from the factory.

Yeah, I dislike the Mustang, but if that deal was local to me and I was car shopping I would probably pounce on it. And for some reason that embarasses me.

I know what you mean.

A little suspension work and the car has real potential.

$18K is quite the deal. In the back of my head the voice is yelling "It's still a Mustang!" and would continue to while I was signing the papers, if I was in the market for a RWD coupe right now.

For that price it would be a soft whisper...

You know, I am certainly guilty of poking fun of the 'Stang crowd, but the 2008 is not ugly, and if I had to chose between that and an SRT4 or Cobalt SS, I would jump on the Ford.

$18k is insane! Figure on a 1/4 mile monster for under $23K, fully-modded! WOW!

And a modded Mustang does have a sexy exhaust note, expecially compared to the Neon or Cobalt!!!

In all honesty I would probably choose a Cobalt SS over a GT. Even though the Cobalt is wrong wheel drive, it's direct injected w/ 260hp and can reach 30mph highway. It's light at less than 3k pounds, and by most metrics handles better than a mustang. It's also faster around a track.

And the only exhaust note I really like is that of a rough idling V8 stuffed into a tin shell, which gives it that resonance sound. Sadly, this is lost on modern cars.

For those who bash the 05+ mustang...have you driven a GT 5spd? If not I suggest you do. Leaps and bounds better than the 04 and down cars. Previously the last generation was STILL based on the same floor pan and suspension from when the Fox platform came out in 1979. They just stretched the wheel base and track width and draped it in new sheet metal over the years.

Drive that sled? I wouldn't be caught dead. I'm going to bed. My eyes are all red. That is what I said. Before I'll drive that I'll ped.

exactly, i have a low 12 second 05 GT and not only does it handle better than most subarus (295 R comps all around anyone? :P) but it sounds ridiculous, gets good MPG, lots of attention and compliments... and its way more comfortable than my WRX.

oh yeah, i have less than $3500 in this car and im running low 12s and trapping 111-112 consistently, not to mention a FULL suspension setup.

people need to wake up and stop being ignorant, the S197 mustangs are not turds like the previous years.

oh well, i'll just continue to beat down on heavily modded WRXs with my BOLT ON GT haha.

and no, i'm not some domestic fanatic. i just give respect where its due, i actually prefer imports... but you can't beat the price per performance aspect of this car.

I like the $50,000 they are slicing off the Aston Martin. $95,000 down from $143,000! Wow. Nice Saturn Astra for $13,900 too. That sure as hell beats out a Nissan Versa even if it is orphaned by GM.

The mustang would actually be a really smart buy right now considering how little has changed with the new Mustang. It really is this mustang version 1.5 with all the carry over drivetrain components.

If I had been waiting for the new Mustang to show itself before picking up a new car I would definetely take this GT over the new one. At least then you'll be able to tell all the internet nerds that you paid less than a V6 new Camaro!
