Default Questions/Feeler about having Winter Racing at track in NY

Everyone,

I am looking for some feedback and ideas from the community about a winter racing series. I work at the Monticello Motor Club, in Monticello, NY, about 90 miles from NYC. I am trying to get the track to open up this winter for some activity.

We have our South Circuit which is a paved 1.7 mile track that we would mostly likely use for the events. Here are some of my ideas:

Open on weekends from January March. Open in any weather conditions; snow, wet or dry. The hours would be ~9am 4pm.

- A few (2-3) select weekends, Rally Teams would be invited to test their cars and setups on pavement, in snow, ice, wet or dry conditions. Spectators would be allowed and food and beverages would be available for a small fee.

- Other weekends there are a few setups that we could run. This is where I would like suggestions on what you guys would participate in. It could be separate days for these events or a combination in one day.

o Time Trial events running the 1.7 mile course 7/8 lap at a time, rally/autocross style where a car leaves the pit every 30 seconds. Depending on how many cars, you may get 5-15 runs. There may be significant prizes from cash to items like tires.

- How many people would be interested in this format?
- How many runs would you like to do?
- How much would you pay to participate?
- What would you value more for awards? And would you pay more if there were significant prizes?
- How many weekends or weekend days would you do this from January-March?

o Open Run Groups Sessions: 5-15 cars at a time with 20-25 minute sessions where you would be able to pit in and pit out during that session. Depending on the amount of cars, you would get 4-8 sessions in the day. There would be passing allowed on the straights and we would run in all conditions. Prizes and awards would be available. Same questions:

- How many people would be interested in this format?
- How many runs would you like to do?
- How much would you pay to participate?
- What would you value more for awards? And would you pay more if there were significant prizes?
- How many weekends or weekend days would you do this from January March?

o 5 Lap Races: Broken down into classes, or according to participation request. This would be in any conditions like the other events.

- How many people would be interested in wheel to wheel races?
- What prizes or awards would be the best incentives?
- How much would you pay to participate and how many races would you like to be in?

o Spectators: There would be a fee for spectators or crew. There will be food, beverages, fire pits, and seating available.

- How many people would come to watch or help fellow drivers?
- How many weekends or weekend days would you do this from January March?
- What would it be worth to spectator?

o Rally Car Rides and Instruction: We may have Rally cars available to takes rides with professional drivers. We may have the Subaru Rally cars that the Subaru Rally team uses.

- How many would be interested in getting a ride in a Rally Car?
- Would you be interested in renting a Rally car to participate?
- Would anyone be interested in driving instruction in your own car or in other rally cars available?
- How much would you pay for a ride in a Rally car?

o Track Rental: If a club, team or group wants to rent the course for the day or weekend to test or bring clients, we are open to that as well.

I am open to suggestions on what people would participate in or what they would enjoy. Feel free to send info to my email or give me a call.

Thanks for your help.
Matt

I think I'd give them more than 30 seconds on snow. That isn't much oops time if you are sliding.
