Default Help! Piece fell from under passenger dash, what is it???

I was driving home last night and heard a plastic piece hit something. When I got home, I saw this piece sitting in my passenger footwell. Can anyone tell me what it is and where it came from? I looked through the service manual and parts diagrams and cannot find it anywhere. The car is an '07 2.5i.

Thanks!

It almost looks like the cover to a cabin air filter. When it fell out, did you have your air on? I suggest turning your air on floor and recirculate to see if you can see if it is part of this system.

It's way too small, and I can still see the cover on the filter access...I really think it's off of the HVAC somewhere, and I had the fan on. I'll check again to see if I can feel a 'leak' of some sort, but I didn't when I first checked.

yeah that piece looks like the cover for the air cabin filter.
just take off your glove box and it will be right behind there and put it back on
just search if you can't figure how to take your glove box off

might be a diverter from floor to the regular vent, or to defrost. when switching those, does it still work?

Thanks guys, found it, it was actually the retaining clip that locks the rear floor vent duct to the heat/ac box behind the dash.
