Default metal grinding noise- help

My wifes car just started making a metal grinding noise this afternoon. there's nothing that seems to be dragging onthe ground so Im thinking its in the brakes or wheels. It only does it going forwards, there is no sound in reverse. Other than the sound, the car drives normally. does anyone know what it could be?

Did you just change the brake rotors? If so, that happens...do a search and you'll see that the fix is pretty easy.

I experienced exactly the same problem in my impreza last night. I was at a stopsign, put the car into gear and began moving forward and instantly heard a high pitched grinding noise. My car only has 1100 miles, so the breaks and rotors and new. What else could be causing the problem?

...the grinding sound only occured that one time. If i remember correctly, i started to hear the grinding right around when the clutch began to engage first gear and my car started moving forward. It was a terrible sound.
