Tinting headlights? Calling all tint experts!

Now, I'm not talking limo tint here, just a little grey/smoke tint to take the edge off the the "silver orb" look of the WRX headlights.

For most cars there are "smoked" covers that you don't remove at night, so I'm assuming a little tint wouldn't pose a problem.

Would normal window tint work for this? Would it melt? Can the tint be shaped enough to cover the light? How illegal is this?

I searched around a bit and found a product specificly for this purpose:

EFX Headlight mesh (2/3rd down page)

Any comments?

Well, I didn't tint the lens, but I pulled the light assembly apart, and painted the inside of it....

You can give that a try, there are a ton of post on how to do the headlight mod.

I'm familliar with the headlight mod. Not really interested in pulling apart the head light.

I'd be very wary about putting anything dark over the headlights. That stuff you see on Mustangs and F-Bodies doesn't magically let light through.

My $.02,

Get the taillight tint spray, and spray a fine mist over the housing. The more you spray, the darker they get. I did this with my front turn signals, as did alot of other GC8 owners. Some have used it for taillights also. The can I got was from VHT and I got it at my local performance shop.
