I'm not quite sure what difference it makes where the car was "built"... don't they all originate from Japan in the first place??

Do they have some secret parts available over there that are not available over here? Or that the Fedex or UPS man cannot ship over?

I have the fastest "USA built" Unlimited AWD Subaru with SSR wheels and exactly 2 decals in the Tampa area.

Where's my award?

It’s just a made in America thing brought about proud Americans, nothing else.

Next year AMS will take a shot at getting their “made in America” title back!

I think America should be aiming for a different record...like the best, period

It will be interesting to see what Martin and crew has scheming up in the frozen north.

It costs a LOT of money to do those events. Doug has to fund himself and his shop is still a small scale business as far has that goes. Crawford and others have TONS more revenue than Doug does so that plays a HUGE role. I'd be willing to bet that if Doug had 100% funding all expenses paid he would be out there every race that he could reach.

Its hard to get funding in this economy, especially when you lose the whole dam season due to a "super lap battle" Time Attack with a wheel to wheel points finishing season ending race

Either way, I hope lucy makes a return next year!

I'm not making fun of him...in fact, I'm well aware of the costs to try and make these events...I hope to head off with Doug a few times this coming season

hop on here for more TA talk...

i believe the rules are different overseas. The hks evo is a lot lighter due to different rules about the body and also the type of wheel allowed is different. I think the body is carbon fiber and ran a 143 at buttonwillow. thats why there is a distinction between american and japanese, they have several advantages.

That carbon fiber evo does not have fans amongst the japanese time attack crowd and tuners, hence the reason they still support the cyber evo time over the hks evo's

no, that car is actually built to our rules...including a waver for its notched frame rails...it just has the years (decade or so) of Cusco GT300 chassis/suspension engineering keep it plastered to the tarmac
