you planning on doing the roof and pillars?

its a good color, but if your not going to match the top, at least give it a fresh coat of gloss black or something

make it all match

It's all time dependant at this point. I'm going to finish the rest of the body then if I have time, the roof and pillars.

Number 2 rod bolts let go, wedged the rod between the crank and the case. Somehow one of the rod bolts went through the side of the cylinder wall. I dont really get that, but there it is.

Case is finished, crank is finished. Oddly enough my Killer-B oilpan is finished too. The other rod bolt got fired downwards at high speed and broke one of the oil anti-slosh plates. Bummer.

What survived:
Near as I can tell, the other 3 rods and pistons are completely undamaged, the heads are both in perfect shape. The piston luckily got wedged at the bottom of the bore, not into the heads. The Killer-B oil pickup tube is in good shape too, just full of bearing material. Nothing a good cleaning wont take care of though.


I'm not going to build another EJ motor after this one. I've had enough. I'll probably put the heads up for sale once I clean all the oil off and inspect the cam journals for any sign of gouging.

Sorry to hear about this. I actually hadn't seen this thread before and after reading some of it in the early pages I was wondering why someone would modify an EJ so much and then I skipped to the last page and saw the inevitable. Best of luck in your next project.
