Car is 95% ready to go into the body shop, just waiting for the coilovers to arrive so I can dump the front end. (no powertrain = front end sitting 3" higher than it should be)

He's delayed a couple days anyway, so it's ok. Hopefully should be going in tuesday or wednesday depending on what happens. Meanwhile I've been taking care of some cleanup items like running new brake lines, looming wiring, etc.

I'm pretty excited

Engine is at the shop being dynamically and statically balanced. The plan is for a 8000rpm revlimiter

Also got a couple toys in the mail.

Custom shiftboot from Redline Goods for the 6MT

And custom Stance coilovers that fit into the GC mounts but with lower mounts for the STI hubs . Only received the rears today, hopefully the fronts are here tomorrow.

I'd like to hear from our friend at Dale's Alignment pretty soon about how I should go about getting this set up. Vancouver trips are expensive, so I'd like to get tuned at Rocket and aligned at Dale's the same trip, which means I'll need to be driving around 5000km to break the new motor in first... so I'd like to have things dialed in decently so I don't wreck my tires :P The shop next door to my work has a laser alignment machine, so they can set my alignment despite my insane half-baked frankensuspension.

However, I've never owned coilovers before...

Front coilovers came today!

I'd like to lift up the rear a bit, but I think I'll leave it where it is for now.

Body shop guy is delayed due to problems with another car he's working on... hopefully it'll be going over there this weekend.

So I'm starting to get a little concerned. We're over half way through February and the car is still sitting in my back yard, as opposed to being at the body shop. He was supposed to come by today to look at the car, but no sign of him and he's not answering his phone.

I'm starting to look at what my options are for having this thing drivable come April if it doesn't get into the body shop in time. I don't want to miss out on the race season :/

It wouldn't be so bad but he's going away for 3 weeks in march. That leaves 3 weeks to get the job done, assuming it went in by the end of this week, which isn't looking likely now.

Argh...

On the plus side, I'm nearly ready to put the motor back together.

Is he the only shop in Victoria that can do it? or are you just getting a good deal?

He's the only shop in victoria that wanted to do it :P

but no one else is going to be able to take a job like this on in such short notice anyway.

There's a body guy at my work who says we could do it together, but it'd strictly be on weekends, and there's just not enough time to get it done.

man 3 weeks for a job that big is a TIGHT schedule. why not just visit him in person and get him to be straight up with you. if he thinks he cant do it in time, just tell him to be honest. this would avoid wasting time for both parties.

Ok, he phoned me just now. Apparently there was some sort of family emergency. He's coming by my place today after work to figure out the car and decide if we've got enough time to get it done before he leaves.

I'm fine with getting the body work done then just primering it for now, worrying about paint down the road.

Woo alright, bodyman just left my place after about an hour of going over the car and figuring out what we're doing. He figures its going to be about 60-70 hours of work, so he should be able to get it finished before he leaves in march for a few weeks.

Car goes in on Saturday. If he can't get it done before he leaves, it'll get brought back to my place while he's gone so I can keep working on other parts of the car, then take it back to him when he's back.

It's almost go time

I really am excited to see this car finished! I can't imagine how excited you will be! Once complete I think this will be the most aggressive looking GC I have ever seen! Makes me want to do this on my 04! lol
