Default Where to buy Tactrix Cable/ Which one

I know that www.tactrix.com is the place that sells the cables but I was wondering which one would I need specifically since they seem to carry a ton of different ones.

The car I have is a MY05 or Impreza 2005 RS

I'm looking to tune my drive by wire with romraider, as well are check out enginuity to see what it has to offer. As well since I alreayd have muiltiple laptops it'll save me from need to buy a OBD II scanner.

Thanks

- Vincent

enginuity is now romraider. so there is no more enginuity all by itself. same thing though.

I dont know if you can buy tactrix cables anywhere besides the tactrix website, but if you can i bet ebay is one place that will have them. Check out the tactrix website to see the differences between the 1.3 and 2.0 openport cables and do some reading/question asking over at romraider.com read the FAQ's first, they will most likely answer all your questions about what you need and dont need. And I can tell you for sure that an openport 1.3 cable will work. the 2.0 cable offer some features that the 1.3 doesnt, but i am not sure if your OBD-II bus can take advantage of those features. Williaty has a 05 2.5RS and uses tactrix cable/RR so he would know exactly what is required. there may be somee jumper blocks needed, i dont know which year/ECU requires those.

Oh yeah, i almost forgot. there is a whole forum for ECU tuning and a subforum for opensource tuning like romraider. refer future inquiries there or the romraider.com forums for the best results.

Thanks, a lot for you insightfula nd helpful info. You did answers a majority of my questions. When I was on the tactrix website I expecting to find a part called "tactrix cable for subaru" but according to your post I'm looking to get the openport 2.0 which will allow me to hook up my laptop to my car.

Just a few more questions since my original post lacked knowledge on my part if you don't mind chiming in.

1. At first I thought the Tactrix cable hooked up via the OBD port. Am I wrong, if so how does it connect from laptop to car?

2. Using the tactrix cable am I able to pull my CEL codes and clear CEL codes if so is there any specific program for me to do so?

Thanks Again

The 1.3 cable will work, the 2.0 cable is not necessary to hook your "car" to your laptop. And yes it hooks up to the OBD(II) port on one end and USB on the other. Yes you can pull/clear codes with the cable, but RR does not do this, I think ECU Explorer will, however. All these questions are answered on the RR website, like Cocoa beach Bum linked for you. And the mods may move this thread to the appropriate forum, especially if we keep posting in it. So please direct your ECU tuning questions to the ECU tuning forum so people seraching for answers that you may also be looking for will be able to find them, and so it doesnt congest this forum. Thanks. Happy tuning.
