Default tire fitment on an 06-07 wrx rim

Hi I was wondering if a 235/45/17 tire would fit fine on an 06-07 wrx rim without any problems. If someone could answer that, that would be great, Thanks.

checking out Tire Rack's site, I pulled up some specs for the Potenza RE01 (for reference)

http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Spec.j...%3D345WR7RE01R

Check out the "rim width range" column, and you'll see that the 235/45/17 is made for a 7-8.5" rim.

So yeah, it's not really recommended, but it can be done. Even the 225 is listed as a 7-8" rim range, and I've run that size on my stock 02' WRX wheels (6.5") in the past.

Tire will fit on wheel, but speedometer will be off by 2.8% (faster)!

Get 225/45-17 for stock wheel OR even better... get rid of those HEAVY wheels & get wider & lighter wheels!
