Default flashing CEL, 440 and 420 code

2000 2.5RS coupe 168k miles, purchased in 04 with 56k miles with Injen cold air intake

Problem: CEL has been on for a while now. car started to idle rough last night while leaving school. on the way back home, CEL started flashing for about 4-5 seconds then stopped and stayed on. scanned at Autozone and Codes 420(cat below threshold) and 440( Evap malfunction) registered.

Recent work:
- replaced timing belt, sparkplugs, and sparkplug gromits and wires at approx 86k
- replaced fuel filter at approx 90k
- air filter replaced at approx 105k
- timing belt and idler pulley replaced at approx 140k miles(pulley let go and toasted the belt )

most of the research i've done thus far hasn't shown anyone with a problem idling. i'm not sure if its related. another thing is my gas cap is pretty dry around the gasket and where the gas cap gasket seats around the gas tank is slightly rusty. i havn't checked the saved codes to see if there was one registered when the light was flashing.

anyone deal with this? i need some help

The p0420 could either be the converter or an AF causing it or both. Also possibly a misfire has occurred and you have had raw fuel dumped into the converter too.

I also would check the fuel filler area and see if any of the rusted parts may have a hole.
