Default Tanner Foust takes Travis Pastrana's place at the Race of Champions NO SPOILERS!!

NO RACE SPOILERS!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sad about Pastrana, but good to hear that Foust is going to show-up some of the F1 dudes. (hopefully)
Thankfully DiscoveryHD is going to show the race. (not live, at least its something)

http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/11/t...ace-of-champi/

---"After a report surfaced yesterday that Travis Pastrana sustained injuries to his hip and ankle during an unknown accident, rumors began to circulate that Tanner Foust would replace the X Games alumni and three-time RoC finalist in this weekend's Race of Champions. The rumors have been confirmed and Foust is currently prepping with teammate and NASCAR driver Carl Edwards to represent Team USA at the RoC Nations Cup.

The X-Games rally competitor, Speed TV presenter and one of the trio set to lead the U.S. version of Top Gear will join Mattias Ekstrom, Sebastian Loeb and Michael Schumacher at Wembley Stadium behind the wheel of KTM X-Bows, Ford Focus WRC cars and Abarth Assetto Corsas. Fifty-thousand spectators are expect to pack the arena and the RoC will air on Discover HD sometime early next year. If you want to catch Foust and the rest of the drivers in action this weekend, Freecaster.tv will begin airing the RoC live at 5:30 GMT (12:30 PM EST, 9:30 AM PST) this Sunday."

Seriously. Thats crazy Carl Edwards is his teamate but some of the stuff he pulled offi n his cup car this year were insane I think they will do great. That sucks about Travis I wonder if it was an FMX accident or something

I wonder who else they asked or how they choose the drivers...IMO, Edwards isn't one of the best Nascar drivers for this event, and I have a feeling that Faust is not going to be close.

Ideally, the two people that I think would do the best in this environment are Bill Auberlen and Robbie Gordon, though if they're looking for big names, I think Tony Stewart and Jeff Gordon would both be better than either of the actual choices.

Marco Andretti? Johnny O'Connell? Townsend Bell? Scott Speed? Scott Sharp?

Or if they want big names.... Jimmie Johnson, Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart, Robbie Gordon.

But I think Tanner will do well... better than Carl Edwards, at least. Those ROC layouts are usually well suited to rally drivers or vehicular lunatics..... Mr. Foust is both

Just fyi,

Autosport.com says it's showing at 13:50 GMT (14:50 CET) on Sunday.

That is 8:50 a.m. EST.

Race of champions is still at 5:30, but the coverage starts with Hamilton vs Hoy at 12:55.

BTW, Autosport has the "unknown incident", he crashed riding in moto cross, then another rider rode over him.

That's UK time, though.

13:50 GMT (14:50 CET) on Sunday.

That is 8:50 a.m. EST. is the Hammy Race, from what it seems.
Then, 12:30 PM EST, is the actual race.

Is that right?

Yep, I know, just subtract 5 hours and you have EST. 12:30 is the race between the drivers, not the nations cup which is a few hours earlier.

If they were set on having a NASCAR driver, the obvious choice would be Boris Said!

Although Gordon would be a good choice too. I mean, he was asked to test for Williams...

Tanner is quite the hot shoe imo. I'd like to see him do some touring car/GT car races.

Personally I feel Gordon is a more talented driver than Speed, is it because he's in NASCAR that you feel he's less talented?

I like Boris and all, but let's not forget he's not even doing well in the road course races where he's supposed to be "the ringer".

Foust is a perfect choice for the spot. He's so well rounded when it comes to driving.

Yeah, I don't actually follow NASCAR, so it's more about the hair for me.

I only watch road course races.... and his name never comes up.

If only we could somehow claim Ron Fellows and send him
