Exclamation Wagon Fender Flares!!!!!

No, I don't have them or know where to get them. That is the reason for this post. If anyone reading this is involved with the design, manufacture or sale of body kits, I BEG YOU!!!!!!! Please stop paying all the attention to the sedan! There are fewer wagons out there, but, we do still exist and Subaru is too stupid to flare the fenders on the wagon because that might actually make them sell beter. Many of us who have the wagons would jump at the chance to buy a flare kit. I dare say it would easily be worth a production run.

SOME ONE PLEASE DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And if anyone actually meets the stupid SOB at Subaru who made the call NOT to flare the fenders on the wagon, please kill him or her for me. You will be doing a great service to mankind by improving the gene pool.

Don't need no stinkin' flares!

Seriously, though...you feel pretty strong about!

I like the cleaner look of the wagon w/o the flares, but to each his own...

I've got to agree with that. The wagons look tight, they can pull off more of a sleeper look too.

I was really disapointed when the flares looked straight off of the forrester instead of the 22B.

Um, if you liked the flares so much, why didnt you just get a sedan? Of course, your answer would be that you probably need the trunk space or have an insistent wife. Well...everything is a compromise...

Personally, i think the car looks fine without the flares. ive never seen flares on a wagon and ive never seen wagons race GT or NASCAR. The wagon was made for people who wanted to compromise....have good performance in a practical car. If your perrogative is looks or performance...should've went for the sedan. Sorry.

i dont really mind the way it looks without flares, i dont really like the look of the stock sedan flares. BUT i wish they either BOTH had flares or not, cuz everybody makes lip spoilers for the sedan and not nearly as much for the wagon.

Let's see.....

I'll try and explain this fender flair by fender flair......

(don't mean to belittle anybody, of course this response is meant for the individual who started this thread)

Ok, the rear flairs, why were they omitted? Well, lets examine the body of the wagon. The rear quarter panel I am assuming is part of the unibody as in the sedan. But, here’s the catch or compromise that the Impreza Sportwagon was forced to make: the Impreza WRX, sportwagon, 2.5 T.S., and the Outback Sport all share the same unibody. On the outback of course, there are small fender flares bolted on which try and mimic the look of the other Outback vehicles. Think of how much more money is would have cost to have two different rear quarter panels on the wagon. I suppose they could have cut out the panels and welded the one’s in from the sedan but for structural and cost reasons this was not done. Also, think of how is would have looked. Maybe not so good depending on how they welded it!!

So the bottom line is cost. The wagon body is shared with other models/ trim levels where fender flairs were felt to be inappropriate. The Outback sport would have looked out of place when compared to the other Outbacks. As a side note, there is no Outback version of the 4dr Impreza.

And the front flairs…………………..I suppose you could bolt on fenders from an Impreza 4dr but Subaru probably did not do this because they wouldn’t match with out rear flairs.

If you still really want flairs then think of this as a project that no one else has done on their wagon……..buy a junked WRX on ebay for 6 grand and have some fun with a blow torch, have some fun!!!

Glad I could be of some help flair-less one. Hope you have at least some understanding of why they were omitted.

Thank You, flame-out

As long as the attach points are the same, you could get the urethane flared Aqua fenders for the wagon...along with the sedan bumper or Aqua bumper.

I just wanted to add something else.....

Subaru did spend the money for different tooling for the rear doors of the Impreza.

So, I suppose Ginearbread, you could also reskin your rear doors in addition to bolting on front fenders from a 4d Impreza.

Later, flair-less one..................
