i had one, put it in a 87 RX. it was a good engine. just a EJ20G closed deck block. with a 5th injector that did nothing...

it did have a good amount of torque with massave timeing advance.

but nothing huge...

awesome engine, storng and reliable.

i did not have the RA box in mine. just used a 4.111:1 WRX box. but the RA is also a 4.111:1 FD it just has lower gears in the box.

the one i built is still running strong. with no major problems...

does the "WRX-type ra non sti" have full mechanical lifters? i know the version 2 "STI ra" does.... from what ive read, it just has a lightweight hla style cams like in a regular v2 sti.

I just put this engine in my legacy and it kinda makes some bottom end (middle whatever) noise at low load in the midrange RPMS!! just like the EJ22t I just took out that blew the bottom end!! but its higer up and not nearly as noisy or abrasive!! maybe all these engines make that sound! BUt I'm skeptacal bout it cause I had the ej22t blow on me in 3 days!!!!!! but this motor has already outlasted that one and its not even running at full potential!!! but I am inpressed with it cause without much boost it probly is still faster than the other one just more up top less down at the bottom!! the 22t is damm torqie!! but the 20g is damm POWERFULL!!!!!!!!! thats also with a slushbox!! so yeah if you have time to check out the ROD BEARINGS!! do it but I did'nt (cause I had to get it out of my work) so it hopefully its okay for quite awhile!?? It is defanitly more solid than the 22t was!!!!! belive it or not it's much smoother than the 22 ever was!!

That's not what I am showing. This car should have a TY752VB4AA in it, which would have the same ratios as all of the other early 4.11 boxes, with an 0.825 5th. The short 5th is the 0.97 which was found on some other RA variants with 4.11 as well as a few others like the V1 STi (SA) wagon swap I bought last summer. Or am I missing something here?

The 4.44 boxes first became available with the v3 cars. I've got both an STi and non-Sti one in right now if you are looking for one...

Yes that should be a strong engine and I agree on the 3.9 RA STi box (I have one) it sucks on long drives. The 4.11 should be a little better even tho the FD is shorter.

Post the code. I'll tell you what it is. If it is the short one, I might buy it.
