Default Spacers for wagon...i need help with the math

for the life of me i cannot wrap my brain around this...

i have 18x7.5 +45 wheels (tires are 225/40 nitto 555's) and would like to flush them up a bit without warping the piss out of my fenders (rolling; yes...pulling; no)...but my rudimentary calculations are based on the guy running 8.5 rims so it's bending my brain and i never was so good at the math

i guess the look i like is an 18x8.5 +38 (seen on Saab on the Cobb's car) so i'm looking at the Project Kics 10mm and 15mm spacers http://www.evasivemotorsports.com/me...s_Wheel_Spacer

now i guess the easy math is do go with the 10mm but but i feel like the narrow rim i have is not quite gonna get me there...but there are 15 and 25mm options for Kics as well

what say you?

here's the wildcard: i found a set of wheels i like quite a bit...they are 18x8 +40 for $500 (i'd keep my 225/40 nitto 555's) so i'm just doing my math and trying to figure my logical recourse and a balance of the vanity and financial matters if i sold my wheels and bought new ones instead of an estimated $280 plus shipping for spacers to achive the desired look i want

i'm not looking to poke out or stretch the tires or whatever, i just want to square it up more especially since i know it can be overdone i want to do it right and make mine "kinda flush" i'm jealous of my buddy's s4 that is stock off the lot and it has a beautiful fitment and stance

but that's cool, i didn't know that Prodrive springs and Hotchkis sways/endlinks was "slammed"...so if you don't want to help out and just want to criticize because you like to stereotype that's fine as well, maybe next time you can tell me i'm fat or make fun of my glasses while you are at it

oooor maybe he just prefers that his wheels dont look all sunken in in his fenders eh? I too have thought about getting spacers to push my wheels further out, not because the other "lemmings" tell me to. I just dont like when I look at a car and there is a substantial gap between the fender and wheel

15mm spacers are too big, just go with a wider wheel

LOL. Thank you for the direct non-babying replies but these kind of questions are usually just looking for validation not the truth as I've found out on other forums.
