Default MY 08 2.5i Issue - Bucking/ Hesitation

Car: 2008 2.5i 4eat, 5200 miles
Mods: SPT catback (installed 2 days ago), have run K&N panel filter for last 2k
Situation: 65 mph, 1/2 tank of gas, 55 deg F, windy as hell, 9:30 pm central time.

Issue: At highway speed last night, car bucked and hesitated while under load for about 5 seconds, any throttle input produced it. It gave me the impression that the engine would die. It didn't. Problem reoccurred 4 miles down the road, only bucked twice. Car was acting fine before and after each episode. I get into town 20 miles later (no issues that whole time) and everything is cool until I get half way through town. Then the same issues pop up. Bucking/hesitation under load, any throttle input.

I start thinking that it might be bad gas, so I fill up the rest of the tank with gas. Problem continues to occur, but only a couple more times. I stop at a light, and the car rough idles like a motor mount is bad. Then its fine. I find some open road and floor it....no issue. I let it idle when I get home for 10 mins....no issue. It idles fine.

I wake up this morning, reset the ECU, put in a paper air filter, add some injector cleaner and let it idle for 15 mins. No issue, good idle. I drive to the parts store and pick up some Heet. No issue. Put the Heet in and drive around for awhile. No issue. Get home and let it idle for 30 mins. No issue, good idle.

My thoughts.
  1. Bad gas
  2. MAF?
  3. Ignition
Anybody?

Maybe it is a bad tank of gas.

I didn't clean the MAF. I have some MAF cleaner, so I may end up doing that if the problem crops up again.
