Default oil question

what weight oil are you guys running with upgraded turbos on a 2.0L.

I was thinking maybe a 10w30 or a 10w40 but want to be sure before i go running thicker oil.

Yes i have searched and there are many threads on oil weights but i was just wondering because 5w30 is like freaking water.

Thanks

Drew

Does this count as an M1 thread? Should we start the ritual?

Gee.......

He asked for a link.....

Nobody seems to be able to provide a link.....

In my book, that makes you guys more lazy than the OP.....since you know of dozens of threads that answer his question. When you say "search", your next line should be a link with his answer. If you can't do that, stay in OT.

To the OP.....I don't have a 2.0....I do have a 2.5T in my LGT and have run everything from full blown racecars to an E30 M3 to my wife's outback to my Yukon XL tow vehicle. I use Mobil 1 10W 30 in everything and have for 30 years.

Use Valvoline synpower synthetic 5W40 if you can find it i.e. at napa or carquest. It's my goal to get someone here to buy what I want them to.

Regardless if you're talking about a thin xw-30 or a thick xw-30, they are both 30 grades at operating temp. Some 5w-30's are actually thicker than 10w-30's at operating temp.
