Default Daily Driver RS question/ poll

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Ok, here's the story. I'm looking at picking up this 99 RS for $4,500-$5,000
after selling my car and I would have $1,500-$2,000 left over after
purchase. The car has 132,xxx miles, it has 2 rust spots on the rear
quarters right above the wheel wells (Not that big of a deal, I could fix
that myself), it currently has an idling issue due to the intake that is
currently on the car, a small exhaust leak, a couple dents and scratches,
and needs a knock sensor replaced

My question is how should I approach this? Should I do maintenance
(replace gaskets, maybe macine the heads, etc.) to get the car running
great withe the current engine and drive train? Should I replace the
engine with a lower mileage stock RS engine? Or should I do some sort of
a WRX swap? This would be my daily driver with occasional auto-x
use.

What would be my best bet for the money and for how it would be used?

Thanks in advance for your opinions and insight,
Luke
