Default For 08 STI would this fit and TPMS question?

Probably some stupid questions. Was tempted to post in the newbie/faq section but figured this is the more appropriate subject area.

Would this size rim fit: 18X8 5X114.3 lug spacing +50 offset?

If so what size tire would be best 245ís? 225ís? etc.

Also are all TPMS the same or do you need ones specifically for a particular brand? I know they would have to be recalibrated by a shop to work with a new car but would ones used on a Mazda work with a Subaru?

stock size is 18x8 with +55 offset. going to a +50 should be no prob. Tire size is up to you. There is def no "best". Stock size is 245/40/18. If it's winter ties, it might be a good idea to go a little narrower. I don't think anything much wider would be recommended for that size rim. Make sure you get a tire with similar diameter to stock if keeping stock gearing is important. Use a tire calculator like http://www.1010tires.com/tiresizecalculator.asp

As for TPMS, most fit on aftermarket wheels, but I have heard it can depend on the wheels. You should check with the seller about that. +

If you search, i'm sure you can find a lot more info

btw: the stock wheel size on a USDM 08+ STI is 18x8.5, not 8.

while the valve mounting of a TPMS sensor is very similar for all different versions not all wheels ar designed to properly accept them.

the wheel specs you listed would be correct but, that alone does not guarantee proper fitment and brake clearance

245/40-18 would be the tire size of choice

Thanks! Well Iíll know tomorrow if I even need to consider any of this. The TPMS is already installed so Iíd just have to jack up the STI and see if everything fits/clears.

I thought it was 18x8.5, too. But, it ways 18x8 on cars101.com. I'm sure you would know better though since you have the car

on 8" wide wheel 245 tire is a bit wide. (but still ok)
ideal 235 would be best.

on 8.5 wide wheel 245 tire would be perfect.

the offset would be fine but it depends on the spoke design to determine if the new wheel would clear the brembo brakes.

If you can post up the exact wheel you are looking for, it would give us more info.

That's strange. cars101 is usually fairly accurate.

From the Subaru website:
18 x 8.5-inch 5-spoke high-luster silver finish aluminum-alloy wheels

Ok what I have are Stock 2006 RX8 wheels. They are from the Shinka edition but that is just a difference in color. I'm tring to determine if I should sell them (can get $900 for them with the TPMS) or just hold on and see how I like the all-seasons I'm going to get. If I decide to keep them I'll fit snow tires to them so I guess I'd go with 235, then when the all-seasons wear out I can put summer's on or an agressive all-season that I can let go longer than Halloween before I swap them.

Similar question, I am looking for a set of cheap wheels to mount my winter tires on and came across a set of RX8 wheels .
Specs:
Wheel size: 18 x 8.0
Offset: +50mm
bolt pattern: 5x114.3
hub bore size: 67.1mm

According to an offset calculator there is 9mm more inner clearance and 3mm inward on the outside. Im assuming these will fit without any negative suspension/steering effects?

The other question I have is the hub is 56.1 on the STi, is it fine to just run a ring to center them?

Yes they should fit no problem.

You don't need rings, just torque the lugs to spec in proper order.

UPDATE: the rears fit, but the l front wheels have a different inner wheel profile than my stock wheels and they didn't clear the brembo calipers.
Not sure what to do at this point. I'm not sure how much more clearance I need as far as spacers are concerned. How much can you go on a GR without having to do fender work or making it handle like crap?
