?? that was last seasons episode?? and the STi didn't whoop it's ass, the EVO out handled the Sti by a fair margin, the Sti just barely beat the Evo on the timed run..

From what I remember Clarkson ripped on the STi relentlessly, praised the Evo, and then got owned when the STi beat the Evo around the track

yea i just found it funny when he got owned, and i like him better than the other 2. seriously thought the evo would clock a better time cause it looked a lot tighter while going around the track whereas the STi esp. it's rear end was going everywhere.

didn't know this was from last season, TiVo thinks it's new..

They were close enough that it doesn't matter. But let's be real here people, the more CAPABLE car is the Evo. Once the modding starts, it's all over. And I heard them say '2.5 liter' on the Subaru, when did that start happening?

I run into tourists from GB occasionally, they've had the 2.5

And yeah, Clarkson got a nice steaming cup of Ess Tee Eff You at the end.

STi: spend 5 grand and make 126 more whp and worry about busted ringlands and spun bearings

evo: downpipe, mbc, tune, make 200 more whp and do it reliabiliy, kill every dork in a subaru on the road

guys, you really need to lay off the fan boy stuff. The EVO is a superior car performance wise. Yes the STi can be competitive, but dollar for dollar spent, the evo serves up the sti in alot of ways.

I wish all of this Bs would die down....I love both cars, but im not bitter over the fact that the evo is alot faster and handles better.

get over it guys!!

I was suprised how much body roll the STI had.

That Evo looked like a lot of fun, I will admit that, but they both look worse than previous years.

One thing that caught my interest was when he brought the Evo into a corner going 100mph that he said was a 65 mph corner in the standard Supercar.

Actually I think they mentioned that the EVO was slightly modified, or maybe it was in the older episodes of 05 sti/evo. Anyway both cars didn't get any impresive times, there is a a few sedans that they test around the track that get better then the 1.28 time.

I was wondering when "TOP GEAR" was going to that rivalry battle. I love both of those cars & I love that show so "cherrios" to all.

Nice over exaggeration. Back when I was stage 2 EVOs making 50-85whp more than me barely pulled away.

And even EVO owners will admit that their cars are **** for reliability once modded. I have a friend with an EVO who said my 350whp WRX could beat any EVO in in the state simply because they would probably be broken and in the shop the night we were gonna meet at the track.

That being said, EVOs are wonderfly performing cars. The X is a hideous beast though.

That episode of Top Gear is old anways.

Point taken but, theres a considerable amount of 11 second evo's w/ a small mod list that are daily driven.

I would love to turn my wrx into a built 35r or equiv borgwarner 2 liter turbo monster and talk **** to everyone, because thats what i like to do as you have noticed

but, from a money standpoint, it isnt worth it. i'd save more money buying an evo and dumping the $$ into it.

id also like to push the limits of the EJ motor but I have other things going on in my life that are more important unfortunetly

well if you watch it he tests an evo fq360 against the sti. of course he's going to like the evo more. the reason the lap times were so close is because he used a regular evo for the power lap. clarkson hates imprezas and impreza fans, just read his column. he hated the sti before they even made it, so i wasnt really surprised when i downloaded it. im a big fan of the show but i think its getting too sensationalist and one sided. i was surprised at the bipartisanship when they all tested the american muscle cars though

Uhhhh...JC was testing the FQ...which isn't made by Mitsubishi. Stig drove the regular Evo. I remember the same exact thread on EvoM and the Evo owners acted like total tools. They ALL look down on Subaru, but us Subaru owners aren't biased like them. Even STI drivers lol.
