Default I thought this was pretty funny...

So I got new Insurance for my car and when I went in to sign the papers the lady said...
"You know...we aren't going to cover the hood scoop and rear spoiler."
Then I said
"Really? I was unaware you didn't insure FACTORY parts on a car..."
"Oh those are from subaru?"
"Yes they come stock on the car"
"Oh ok nevermind then"

1 week later I get this letter in the mail

"Dear Eric,
Mercury has asked us to advise you that there is no coverage for the spolier on the 2005 Subaru Impreza. If this is something that you would like coverage for please contact our office so that we can get the additional information and determine the appropriate additional premium. Thank you"

So I call and yell at them for 5 mins and finally talk to the adjuster and tell them to call subaru...they call me back 10 mins later and apologize and tell me it's covered

Owned haha

I haven't had an experience with the insurance, however I did have with a cop. The cop pulled me over and his excuse was that my exhaust was too loud. That was BS, but either way, I was polite. He let me go with a warning and told me to put the car back to stock. He pointed at my scoop and factory tail lights. He would not believe me that they were factory parts. I tried to convince him but soon gave up so I would not make him mad and provoke him and end up getting a ticket. Crazy....

that "ladies" response should have been your first clue to cancel your mercury insurance
and go with someone else.

Yeah, progressive covers everything on my car. It's stupid that a car insurance company doesn't know what comes stock with the car their covering.

They should have said that they don't cover turboes that are added onto your car

Mercury here and no problems. I think the agent said if I wanted other stuff covered(rims, stereo, etc...) it would be about $1 for every $100 worth of stuff. Can't remember if it was monthly, quarterly or yearly? So $20 to have $2000 covered doesn't seem to bad if it isn't every month.

It is actually 10 dollars for every 1000 but your denomination is correct. I have over 6000 worth covered and no issues....

I had the same thing happen to me when my car got vandilized. They wouldn't cover my spoiler. They said that it wasn't factory added. I had to show them pictures and part numbers for the s202 sti carbon wings and they came to the conclusion that they weren't going to cover is because it wasn't installed here in the US> I bitched at them long enough and they covered it... I just kept the money and fixed the wing myself with a little wet sanding and recoat it was brand new....
