Default Great job with great pay and no rent; or the guard, college and a boring crappy job?

So been thinking recently of joining the guard, getting loans paid off, then going back to school in the fall of 09 for automotive. If I would do this I would have enough left over money to put a bit into my car, coilovers and evoIII 16g basically. Then would pry get a job at a shop or start my own if the economy ever gets better after college.

The other idea is this, move back in with parents for a couple years, get a job working with my mom paying $500 a week, pay off bills, build my car to exactly what I want, not have to pay rent and probably do a business degree or something of the like in the college in the town my parents live in.

BTW I'm 21, working two jobs at sub $10 an hr, barely making ends meat currently. Either one is better than what I'm doing now

Just wondering, what would you do OT?

I'd stop playing Paul Walker and ****-can the mad tyte car mods. You're getting a little old to blow money on a goddamn mode of transportation, especially when you're having trouble "making ends meet," slugger.

Priorities: get them.

^ Sage advice, don't worry about modding your car while you're in college. Worry about your education and simple survival instead of throwing money down a pit, which you will never see again.

It's good to see the tight economy hasn't spread to the overpriced whore market.

Actually, if you are having this problem, maybe you should join the Active Army. Maybe it will help you see what is important in life.

Like loved ones, future, the great things you already have, education, safety.....

You gotta love car mods. Dumping thousands of dollars to do nothing but decrease the value of your car.

I am 21 and my modding stopped when I moved out, until I can afford it again (which will be after I move out of this apartment and buy a house)

If living at home even enters the equation as a remote possibility, then you shouldn't be putting money into your car.

Whatever scenario that allows you to pay off your debts, build up a sizable amount of savings, and generally be self sufficient is what you should do.

At least I get to go out for (free) dinner in a few hours if I can hold out that long. The restaurant ain't got waffles, but it does have pheasant and sometimes venison, and someone else is paying...

Ahhhh, another General member makes the long and arduous trek to the famed Off-Topic forum, and like so many that have come before him, his journey has ended with him getting his lunch money stolen before he even gets past the parking lot.

Don't listen to these ********, their hopes and dreams are long dead, but yours are still there and flourishing! Here's what you do:

1) Get all the credit cards you can (hopefully 10 or more with a limit or $10k+ each)
2)Build your car, how YOU want it, but make sure it has at LEAST 1000whp
3)Take it out to the local school zone and mega pwn3d t3h Honda boys.
4) Get a job driving for some Latin American Drug Cartel
5)Sit back and watch the monies roooooll.
