Default Terrible Bucking and Losing Power - Please Help!

I have a 99 impreza 2.5.
The car starts and revs just fine. But when I take off at low speed and place the car under load between about 1700 to 2900 RPM the car bucks and fights me to gain speed. After about 2900 the car seems to mellow out and become normal again. Any ideas?

thanks for the input. However, I don't think it is Plugs as the last 5 minutes of my drive the car drove 100% fine. I think it might be related to the MAF. Please people chime in! I encourage responces!

I don't mean to sound rude, but you have an STI and this is the Normally Aspirated forum.

On a helpful note, it does sound like it could be a dirty MAF.

I have 2 cars. My STi is in the garage getting work done to it.

I love my RS. This is the 1st trouble I've ever head with it. Please continue to chime in.

does the 99 have a map or maf? I forget. how many miles on the engine? have you noticed that the bucking is at a certain throttle position or RPM? You can try checking the TPS. When was the last time the fuel filter was replaced? Also look at spark plug wire connections.

Fuel filter is good replace 5k ago. Yes does have MAF and I'm leaning toward that. Bucking is at about RPM not any specific (around 1700-2900) I'll look at wires but they are new as well. 120k on engine.

How do I check TPS?
