Default Zenvo and Danish unveil 1,104-hp Zenvo ST1

Quote:
If supercar startups keep coming out like they are we may have to dedicate some Silicon Valley-like city for them. Zenvo Automotive and Danish Design have teamed up to offer the Zenvo ST1, and itís blistering fast and will certainly be a PNTYDRPR.

Power comes from a 7.0L V8 turbocharged and supercharged engine that makes a total of 1,104-hp with a maximum torque of 1,054 lb-ft. That allows for a 0 to 62 mph run in 3 seconds flat with a top speed that is electronically limited to 233 mph. Of course Zenvo Automotive isnít releasing any fuel-economy figures and we highly doubt they will in a fuel-saving conscious market such as this.

If youíre looking to get your hands on one then you better be special. The company will only produce 15 units of the Zenvo ST1 that will be sold to ďspecial approved customers.Ē How do you become a ďspecial approved customer?Ē We guess you just try to contact them and tell them how special your bank account is

That fake mesh is hideous, looks like it belongs on a ford focus. WTF were they thinking? The car has nice lines though, looks like something I drew in highschool.

That 0-60 time seems kind of... slow for 1000+ hp.

Probably traction limited, even with 335's in the rear.

I think the car looks gorgeous.

Quote:
The Danes are better known for their stunning architectural and cutting-edge product design, but now a Danish firm has turned its hand to the task of designing a supercar, and the result is the Zenvo ST1. As the first purely Danish supercar, the ST1 sets its aspirations high.

Powered by a turbo/supercharged V8 engine rated at 1,104hp (823kW) and a massive 1,056lb-ft (1,430nm), the car's designers claim 0-62mph (100km/h) acceleration in just 3.0 seconds, an electronically limited top speed of 232mph (375km/h) and a power-to-weight ratio of 802hp/tonne. The impressive performance comes despite RWD-only drive and a six-speed manual transmission as the only option.

Fuel consumption and emissions figures haven't yet been released, but don't expect it to be a green overachiever.

At the front 19x9.5in wheels are wrapped with 255/35 Michelin rubber, while the rears get 20x12.5in wheels and 335/30 shoes to help put all that power to the ground. Despite the huge power and big alloy wheels, the car is surprisingly small, at just 15.3ft (4.66m) long, 6.7ft (2.04m) wide, and 3.9ft (1.19m) tall and weighs just over 3,020lb (1,376kg) thanks to carbon fiber body panels.

Unlike some small-firm supercars, the Zenvo ST1 takes luxurious accommodation as seriously as performance, offering everything from keyless entry to satellite navigation and power telescoping steering wheel as standard equipment. Even the leather-and-alcantara racing seats are electrically adjustable.

No word has yet been released on pricing of the car, but Zenvo has clear series production plans, set to start in 2009. Only 15 of the cars will be built, each assembled by hand, but given the car's dramatic styling and impressive power figures, it's likely to find a niche among the small crowd of supercar buyers.

Probably weighs half of the Bugatti, and would be lucky to make half the traction

With half as many wheels spinning, I'm sure you're right, but it looks like the Ferrari FXX pulls a 2.8 with about 300 fewer ponies. In fact, most the Italian supercars will put you in the low threes with 300 - 500 less.

I dunno, I guess I'd just rather have a nice red Ferrari than something that looks like it came out of the Burnout video games.

It's a RWD car. There is only so much power that can be put down at those low speeds. You could give it 2000 hp and it wouldn't get any faster. It would probably be just as fast to 60 with 800 hp. .2 tenths of a second to the enzo could be down to OEM tire choice, gearing, etc. Again, 2wd cars are just not going to get faster at such low speeds.

It is not rocket science why a 700 HP car can do a 3.2, while a 1000 hp car does a 3.0. It's quite simple.

It's got the overall shape of an Audi R8 with the "flame surfacing" of a BMW, and a pinch of Aston Martin nose... either way, it's one mean looking car. Completely overkill, but pretty darn cool looking none the less.

Oh yea, and it's coming out at a perfect time, in terms of the economy and all.

yup, it's an LS7
man, no turbo blanket around the turbine housing, no ceramic coatings or exhaust wrapping on the "hot parts," no heat reflective wrapping for the intake tube for the supercharger with the wastegate right next to it....
