Default heat stopped working

97 legacy 2.2

heat worked good last time i needed it about 5 months ago and now it doesn't. The blower works fine, blows air, just the air coming out isn't not hot or even warm. What could it be? do the heater cores on these go out? it's got 180,xxx miles. it's going to be in single digits at night now and heat would be nice...what do i need to inspect? coolant is not low.

heater core plugged up? when the engine is warm, check the 2 lines on the driver side going to the firewall and see if they're hot.

I replaced the thermostat, still nothing. I need double check coolant level.

could it be my water pump? head gasket?

What if I were to remove the thermostat?

I will check the two lines today.

Could be as simple as a broken blend door or cable. Look under the dash at the cables fine the one that moves when you adjust the temp knob, make sure its hooked up.
