I would recomend... 1 of 2 things.
1. buy a WRX
if 1 is not possible, buy a used pre 02 RS.
they're cheaper, better equipt, lighter, and yeah, right now they are soooo plentiful. I'm sure you'll find a few nesic members in your area. Welcome to the club.
Aaron
and, oh yeah, if you want to see something totally impressive, come to the meet this sat. should be pretty big

i would love to come to the meet but i cannot. i would however, after getting my car, like to go to another one.

i told the salesman i was talking to, what i was interested in used cars. legacy turbo, any rs sedan or coupe, and obs. with 5 speed. but, for various reasons i would like to get a new rs, although you offered very good advice on buying a used one.

wwwmmm, the dealer has a nice 99white sedan (auto, though).... i should test drive both and compare the two, to get a feel for them.

There's plenty of activity in southern NH. RS's are damn near dropping out of trees; they're that popular. I mean, they're not *common*, but I see one almost every day in my commute.

PS: welcome. get an impreza. you know you want one.

There are a ton of us in Southern NH and in the Boston area. Probably something like 20+ in the area.

If you don't do a used RS, you could pick up a new 01 RS, aka a leftover. Usually dealers like to unload the old stuff and get it off the lot, so sometimes there are good deals to be had.

The 02 RS is basically the 01 RS but without the rear limited-slip, sunroof, and spoiler. It gains the trunk light, rear seat pass thru, and a couple of things.

If you are going to buy an impreza and plan to keep it NA then do not buy a MY99. A cold air intake by itself can blow the MAF.

MY98,00,01. are fine for this mod,but it all depends what route you want to take the car. I'm not saying do not buy a MY99 if you plan to keep the stock intake you should be fine.

I had a MY99 myself an some of them had this problem.

Hey Eric, welcome aboard! Sorry to hear you can't make this meet. I think there'll be another in two months time.

Wilkey

PS. Just FYI, the cute little monkey icon with the hand up is actually flipping the bird, so use with care.

hey, thanks alot. i see at least one impreza rs on the way to work everyday, and yes i know i want one.

if i happen to find a 99 at a good price, can it be converted to a different air metering system?

and does anyone make a good reliable turbo kit for the 2.5?

thanks

Eric

If you plan to go turbo then buy a MY99. The kits I would suggest are the Vishnu kit and the rallispec kit when they complete it.

Both kits will incorparate a stand alone engine management system that eliminates the MAF all together.
