Default 225/55/16 tires on stock wheels?

im looking into buying some new snows since i just had one slashed last night. im lowered on sti struts with sti pink springs. its about an inch drop all around give or take. ive found some nokian tires in 225/55/16 and i want to get them mounted up for this upcoming snow.

heres my question:
is anyone running this setup on their stock 16's with either stock suspension or lowered? any rubbing?

any opinions would be appreciated. i know these tires would be a bit wider than stock (225-205=20) by almost an inch.

If I'm not mistaken wrx came with 205 55 16 right? If so you would want to step the sidewall down a few notches if going to a wider tire. shoot more toward a 225 45 16 Maybe even a smidge shorter than that.
It's a percentage so the wider you go with the same sidewall, the taller the sidewall would be. End result being less acceleration, spedo saying you're going slower than you really are, and being lowered would probably mean clearance issues as well.
I'd say you shouldn't have a problem with the width, I don't have a wrx so I wouldn't swear to this but I had a dsm with stock wheels and 225's. Ask the guys at your local pep boys, ken towery's, walmart auto center, whatever you have local

I just looked at the threads of note for you. There is a tire calculator on there and 225/50/16 should be the closest sidewall to 205 55. Also The 02 WRX has a 6.5 inch wheel (it didn't have 04 listed). DSM's also had 6.5 inch wide wheels. You should be perfectly capable of mounting 225's to your wheels. good luck.

225/55/16 is oversized. You can try 225/50/16 or stay with the stock size for 04 WRX which is 205/55/16.

i decided against it the 225 was going to be way too wide. i luckily found a set of the same exact snows i had with the exact same wear about 2 hours away, and the seller basically gave them to me. i only replaced the rears and now i have spares.
