where i live, home in PA and college in NY, tinting is illegal. (driver needs to be seen from outside the vehicle, etc etc) but i do have 35% and have never been hassled for it. its a very nice smoked look.

I don't see how police get their panties in a bunch for tinted windows.

It's not the worst thing I can do to my car.

They should worry about safety of others rather than if the tint is 35% or 30%.
Besides many cars come out of the factory tinted.

lol Insta-Cling! If a cop pulls you over for it, peel it off, when you get home, stick it back up.

But I am legal all the way around. To the limit, but still legal.

there are some factors that will influence on this matter.
but if you have a white or black color car, do not go to extreme. specially if your interior is dark

well its not the safety of others that they are worried about when they made the tint laws, it is the safety of the officers. the officers need to see in the vehical for there own safety.

Just roll your windows down everytime you see a cop... I got rid of the tints on my front windows because 1) got a ticket 2) its illegal 3) didn't want to give a cop a reason to pull me over

Ever heard of officer safety? Not to mention they can't see if you're hiding drugs, etc.

I have been pulled over twice
I was not ticketed either time

one time, the cop didnt even say to fix it (chesterfield MI)
and the other (rochester MI) was a dick. "its 2:45, just got done drinking" "...no...I'm 19" "....um..well, what is it that your doing?"

they just want to see who is hiding

***I got my tint in the summer, and it had successfully chipped/peeled/unstuck/gashed it self in atleast 2 spots on all 4 windows!! Anyone want some racing striped tint =\?

Yeah I understand about officer's safety.

I guess coming from Eastern Washington, rather than Socal or Miami, I'm not worried about gangstas hiding from cops.

I have never had an issue with window tint, I am told the legal limit here in Wyo is 28%, so I went with the 10% rule and got 18%. Well supposedly it is 18% I expected a darker tint. But since they have to fix my back window, I might have them darken it up then.

Had 5% tint on my old Monte Carlo.

When he put the light meter up to the window, it read 3%.

It was also a state trooper who came from the OTHER SIDE of the highway to **** with me...thanks buddy.

I think it really depends on the cops in your area. I have 15% on the rear windows and nothing on the front. Every now and then when I go through a road check the cop will get me to roll up my front window to check for tinting.

I have also known of people who have gotten tickets from the cops for having illegal tint with a notice saying that they have to remove it.

The Law in my area is:
No film is permitted on the driver’s compartment, right and left. Any film may be installed on the side windows behind the driver. Any film may be applied to the rear window, provided the vehicle has 2 exterior rear view mirrors.

NH is the same way as BC...Ran 2.5% on the rears of my truck and 35% on the two front windows even though the front isn't legal. The cops don't seem to care with 35% in the front but anything darker they bag you and make you take it off in front of them and of a ticket. All state laws are different if you outside you're state they technically cant do anything about it. Got a exhaust tix in Maine showed up with the NH inspection manual to court and the officer was like oh dont worry about it ripped the ticket up before i could see the judge after i told him when he pulled me over it was legal in NH.

People really don't need to go super dark like limos unless you really don't want people to see you.

In the rain and snow, tinted windows look even darker especially from far away.
From a slantways look they look dark too.

I use to have 35% all around on my Acura, which is legal here in Ms. and it was nice having something to block the sun out, but it still felt like I was riding around in a fishbowl, with dirty water.lol So I got 10% on the Suby when I got it and it's SOO much nicer as far as privacy and blocking the sun out. Cops usually don't hassle people here about it unless you piss them off some way. You cannot see in my car unless I'm at a store or somewhere where there is light shining in through the windshield. And I'm fixing to address that by putting 50% on the entire windshield.

I've always had illegal tint on all my cars and never got a ticket (knock on wood).

It's all about the respect you give the office when he pulls you over. Roll all your windows down, turn on your light if it's night. Turn off the car and put the keys on the dash. Put your hands on the wheels. And say, "Yes Officer, No Officer, I was wrong Officer."

If he's determined to give you a ticket, there's nothing you can do. But if he's on the fence about that or could potentially arrest you, he may reconsider if you're polite and respectful and NOT ARGUMENTATIVE!!!
