I have two layers of 5% tint on my car and i get pulled over all the time, which should be expected in Cali. my dad is an ex-cop so i usually can talk my way out of the tickets but its still lame getting hasseled so much by the cops. If i cruise with my front windows down i never have any problem but that gets old on the freeway. my only suggestion is that you get the same % on all 5 windows. even if you went really light it looks much better when all the tint matches up

Default Oh Wisconsin

Husband got pulled over going 65mph on the Interstate (65mph speed limit) STRICTLY based on the cop "thinking the tint was beyond legal limitis."...and it is...30% all the way around (in WI it's 50% front, 35% rear);

Trooper gave us a "warning" in which we have 30 days to have it removed and shown to a fellow officer to sign off on...and then we don't get issued a ticket. He's only making us take off the front tint...he let the remaning rears slide...and that's a freaking Trooper. -1 for pulling us over just based on tint, +1 for not completely screwing us over and making us take it all off. So for the $20 to take it off, $79 to get it put right back on (after we get it signed off on, of course), I figure whatever. If you are going to tint beyond the legal limits, I suggest knowing the risks and cost.

It took us 4 years to get pulled over for the tint on his car, though...so those are the odds. My car has 20% all the way around...and I haven't gotten pulled over for the whole year it's been on. I figure having them tinted is worth the risk you run and possible cost it takes to take it off. Enjoy your car to its fullest!! Take the risks

I think this is a bull**** reason, should I not be allowed to have drapes or blinds in the windows in my house because the officers need to be able to see inside?

OTOH, for safety reasons (ie being able to see while you drive) I understand tint laws.

If the cop doesn't have to be able to see in my house why should he have to be able to see me in my car, it would be just as easy to shoot a cop at your front door as from your car.

i have 15% all the way around (except windshield) and have never had anything mentioned about it even when i got pulled over for speeding once.

I live in KY in the summers and go to school in TN though and neither state really has strict laws about tint

20% all the way around. No problems from NJ police, but that's probably because I have my badge stuck to my windshield.
