Default 08 STi - 225/50/17?

I'm looking to get some snow tires for an 08 STi. I'm going with 17" wheels and 225/50/17 is the closest to the stock size of 245/40/18. It would be .4 inches taller. The other, more commonly used it seems, option would be 235/45/17, which is 1.2 inches shorter in diameter. This seems like a pretty big difference to me and I would prefer not to throw my speedometer off by that much. My question is if there is enough clearance from the suspension for that extra .4 inches?

You should be fine with 225/50/17. Look here:
