Question Trouble to start engine after gaz tank fill-up

I recently change my 2.2L engine on MY99 impreza. New engine is still a 2.2L but come from a 2003A/T impreza, everything is running perfect in any driving situation.

But, when I go to the gaz station and put fuel in the tank (whatever the quantity or grade). I have trouble to restart the engine after. I need to
1. keep the gaz pedal to the floor, crank about 5-6 time then engine starts.
2. keep my foot on the gaz pedal for a 1-1 minute to avoid it to stall and restart to step #1.

Once these to steps are over, the engine is running just like any other car and start without any issue until the next fill-up

No CEL
No special noise

Did you ever see this problem ?
If so, how did you resolve it ?

Thank you

check to make sure your MAF sensor is position properly.

I would try replacing the fuel filter before anything then check the pump maybe something is loose on the connections or something funny like that and put some lucas fuel cleaner in there...

I have a similar problem but its not the same... its only when i fill the tank fully it cuts out randomly as i drive at 2000 -3500 rpms but once i get the gas to about 3/4 its fine..

And i have new pump and filter

But good luck buddy

^ I get a similar strange issue. Once I fill my tank to full, for about the next 2 miles or so, my fuel trims go way outa wack and the car sputters just a little while driving due to the fuel trims trying to pull massive amounts of fuel! The STFT goes to -20 to -25% while the LTFT also goes to -25% to -30% with just normal driving. At idle my LTFT usually sits at -18% (I have quite a few engine mods including Delta Cams). But with a full tank I get -30% and the STFT is also way out at about -25%.

But, then after just a couple of miles of driving, it all normalizes!! Can't quite figure out what causes it? The fuel pressure doesn't change. I have a pretty accurate digital Fuel Pressure Gauge that doesn't show any crazy changes. But, it acts like the pressure has sky rocketed. Or like it's sucking fuel in through the evap lines? But, that doesn't seem likely... does it?

So.. my issue isn't the exact same as the OP, but I wonder if it's related? Your hard to start problem could be due to too much fuel, kinda like how my engine also shows it's getting too much fuel.

P.S. I drive a 2000 2.5RS with full IHCE.

Same issue. If I shut off car fill tank then start, it will will start then die right away. I take the key out wait 10 seconds and start again just touch the gas after it starts and it will run normal until the next fill.

My car is an 05 STI. Fuel system is stock.
